    I started taking the Becker course for FAR in April actually..I was going to take the exam at the end of May, but I am also finishing up my master's program and so between finals/papers/ graduation, I decided to postpone it until July 1st. I have been doing 1 chapter per week, which I thought would be really helpful. However, I am realizing that I tend to forget a lot of what I learned weeks ago! So thankful for those progress tests! I am on F8 now – hoping it won't be too bad. I was considering purchasing the Wiley Test Bank, but I wonder how many of those questions are already provided by Becker? I have passed REG and BEC using Becker only, but FAR is so overwhelming!!

    Hello All!

    I just graduated with my accounting degree earlier this month! I sent in my exam initial application the other day and hope to be able to schedule FAR for August before I start school again (in order to get the 150 credits). My plan is to begin studying in June, so that I will have two solid months, June and July, to study and then hopefully take, and pass, FAR in August. All the professors at my university encourage us to take this section as soon as we can, while all the FAR and IFRS material is fresh in our brains, so that is my plan.

    Do any of you have any recommendations for a first-timer like me? I plan to purchase the FAR Ninja Notes and hopefully CPAexcel also; I'm tight on cash so my review material options are limited. I'm hoping I can work in 2-3 study hours every day in June and July to prepare for August, so I guess we will see how that works out!

    Hi all! First time using a study group, even if it's for my last exam. I had originally intended to take FAR at the end of this month (as a matter of fact, yesterday night), but decided that it would be cheaper to reschedule than to fail and re-register. I have a healthy respect for the difficulty of the exams and know that although the Intermediate and Advanced courses were entirely in my wheelhouse during my coursework, I can't be complacent in preparing for it all.

    All that said, I am scheduled for July 19–one day before Wave 1 closes so as to ensure that my test is received for inclusion in the first release. Like the other three sections I took, I'm using Roger and, by extension, Wiley. Best of luck everyone as we tackle this beast! For me, two words: bring it. 🙂

    REG -- 77 (11/12)
    AUD -- 77 (2/13)
    BEC -- 89 (4/13)
    FAR -- 91 (10/13)

    Happy Memorial Day Weekend from Tampa! The weather is beautiful here and instead of playing golf I am contemplating the virtues of Notes Receivable and Inventories. Hopefully we haven't made too many credits to Beer Inventory this weekend. I enjoy reading the posts on the strategies, triumphs, and progress that you have made in taking these exams. I cringe when I see where someone has scored a 74 or a passing grade has lapsed.

    There are 35 more days before the testing window starts. Let's do this!

    AUD   87 (2/28/2013)
    BEC 78 (4/18/2013)
    FAR July 2013
    REG August 2013

    AUD 87
    BEC 78
    FAR 76
    REG 93

    Well, I finished my first try on FAR after about 4 weeks study! I know it was tight! I have to say, it was so terrible! I thought they would test on FA or inventory or cash flow but they seemed test on government and not for profit more than I imaged! I hated it!!

    The sim were not so easy…I gave up on on question but finally my time ran out!

    I know 4 weeks is too short for me so I would take it in August sometimes! I will rematch my AUD on 15th July.

    I am using CPA excel lectures, Wiley bank, CPA review for free and Becker flash cards.

    Could someone here suggest me how I should use my materials wisely? Thanks!

    AUD-73, 73, 73, 79!!
    BEC-77!
    FAR-60, 83!
    REG-66, 72, 75!

    Hi everyone, I just took REG a few days ago and will start studying for FAR today. My exam is scheduled for Aug 30, I hope that will be enough time for me. This could be my last exam if I pass REG.

    Taking FAR on 8/31, can't start studying until after I take BEC on 7/3! Using CPAexcel and Wiley test bank, definitely looking into the ten point combo light…I'll have to see how my AUD score comes back.

    The jury is out on my AUD score til June 10th, but if the force is with me I'll be one FAR away from being a CPA! I can't believe I might be done this year. I am planning to sit for FAR early or mid August and plan to start my studying tomorrow since I am still in the ZONE from my audit cram week these past 7 days! Good luck to everyone! FAR was my very first exam in fall of 2008 and I got a 73, boooo. Obviously ive been much more serious about the exam since then .

    REG - 65, 70, 80!
    BEC - 35, 62, 79!
    AUD - 73, 75!
    FAR - 65, 73, 70, 75! DONE.

    Hi, y'all. FAR is my first section that I plan on taking (and slaying!), but I'm having the hardest time retaining the information I'm learning. I feel like an imbecile after doing my HW questions and MCQs (the very few that I have because I haven't purchased the Wiley TB just yet. Gotta wait on my next check). I'm currently utilizing Becker, Wiley's FAR review text, and Ninja notes, and I'm freaking out. It's like sitting in all my Intermediate Accounting classes all over again, lost in space; and is it me, or is the Becker program too wordy? I don't know, but it feels like they overcompensate when it comes to concepts that should really be straight forward. Goodness! I'm glad I kept all my notes and textbooks from high school and college because it seems like those make more sense when matching them to Becker. I'm hoping once I get the Wiley TB, my situation and retention will improve. I began studying early this month, and I'd like to take my exam around late July/early August, but I've gotta wait on the Maryland Board of Accountancy to reopen their application que because they're updating their system. I study for an hour during my lunch break at work and again from about 6:30 11:00 (and sometimes midnight) weeknights if I don't have other activities scheduled (which I typically do). Otherwise, the weekend is when I knock stuff out. Anyone else having trouble retaining info (especially those who are using Becker)?

    Studying with CPAexcel, Wiley, and Ninja…Pushed out 5/28 FAR “date”….Had false start with FAR studying as I didn't allow enough time (AND computer/router/modem crashed-Jesus!)

    …CPAexcel is 74 assignments but really 239 sections. The exam planner doesn't balance out the load evenly each day…it puts more upfront if you have more than one assignment per day and you feel behind in the first week. They also only allow one-week for review…Two seems in order especially if using Ninja notes and Wiley Test Bank.

    NET, NET CPAexcelers – allow more time to study upfront and set planner a week earlier to allow for 2-week review.

    Head Ninja Jeff recommends waiting to the end to review the MCQs/TBSs….as you will not remember them as you go along over several months. That is a good tip..HOWEVER (the big but), CPAexcel has questions not covered in the study text and so you learn through MCQs/TBSs….I am reading 50-100 pages and then doing the MCQs/TBSs. That way I get through the material faster.

    Consider Virtual Classroom purchase..$100 per module. It allows you to download blocks of powerpoint/flashcards/proficiency tests and past exam questions and solutions in Module blocks as PDFs….You can then use them more easily for review…quickly scrolling through on a tablet.

    I print out the powerpoint and flashcard pages for each section and review before I read the boring (but understandable) text…It helps me to have a visual image before reading…(visual learner trick).

    CPAexcel not keen on mneumonics…borrow a Becker book and make flashcards of mneumonics.

    I'm also making flashcards of ratios and formulas.

    Using Wiley Focus Notes to review also which has about 80 pages of journey entries…so make more flashcards for them too.

    Check in with CPAexcel…Check-in Please Forum so you can keep track of us that are using this as review.

    Good luck as you tackle the beast…Meet you all at the finish line! My birthday is not till November. LoL.

    If you are using Becker and find it difficult reading, consider CPAexcel….If you don't want to buy the entire course, I am selling my 2012 books…all 4 sections…(5 books-2 for FAR,, 1 each for the others).

    If you are selling your Becker 2012 textbooks, let me know..I'd be interested as the mneumonics are better with Becker it seems.

    Still have my NTS for FAR…still hesitant to set an actual date.

    I'm not going to rehash everything I've written in other threads, but:

    -Using CPAexcel

    -Using my own study method (combo of CPAexcel & NINJA methods)

    -Going through all study text first, leaving MCQs/TBS till the end

    My goal is to take it around mid-august

    -Finish study text by end of June

    -Focus on MCQs/TBS/JEs till the end of July

    -Final review first 2 weeks of August

    I'll let you know if I love or hate CPAexcel after the first test

    FAR - [10/07/2013 --> 66] [07/07/2014 --> 86]
    BEC - [08/31/2014 --> 86]
    AUD - [11/24/2014 --> 88]
    REG - [02/14/2015 --> 92]

    @clbrown23, I'd be willing to trade you my Becker 2012 books for your CPAexcel 2012 texts. Selling is fine too.

    I will be retaking FAR for the 5th time in July. I'm not even sure how to approach a study plan this time around. Anyone have any advice for me? I'm using Becker and supplementing with Wiley test bank MCQ's. I also have the Ninja audio but have a hard time focusing on that. I'm a visual learner.

    Should I start at F1 w/ Becker by watching the lectures, do the homework (again) and the SIMS (again)?

    BEC 79
    AUD 76(expired), 84
    REG 81
    FAR 61, 70, 71, 72, 80 PASSED AND FINALLY DONE WITH THIS EXAM!!
