    Hi Y'all,

    I just wanted to wish everyone well for the upcoming testing window. Because so much is happening in my life (still grieving my mother's unexpected passing before my birthday in March), I decided to wait until November to sit for any part of the exam. Plus, I'm now fronting the money to sit in a classroom for live instruction, September through the first week of November, because the self-study just isn't faring well for me. I think it's the best thing for me so I won't become discouraged, and I think I'll be able to knock out both FAR and REG around that time. Best of luck, y'all!

    @icanhazcpa…thanks for the help…made it luk very easy…

    @piscesChista02….my condolences are with you…i can relate this to exactly same situation just days before my first attempt on CPA -FAR exam….i was devastated but still went ahead and gave the exam…I wud suggest that u sit for this window..

    in your situation…it is not about prepared or not….pass or fail…it is about fighting with ur low spirits…keeping urself with the sweet memories always and making this grief ur power to become some more mature and taking life as it comes….

    Go and give the exam even if u r not ready…a mother always wants to see her child succeeding in life, so don't give up…

    All the Best!

    I think it would be mutually beneficial if we shared what we think our strengths and weaknesses are in FAR. That way we can help each other out more effectively and efficiently.

    Strengths: all F-1, LT construction contracts, Installment sales, Nonmonetary exchanges, all business combos,all F-4, leases (I <3 leases), pensions, governmental accounting

    Weaknesses: Intercompany transactions, bonds, foreign reporting and changing prices, foreign currency accounting,Statement of CFs, NFPs

    @cpa4birthdaypresent….

    u r lucky at least u know ur strengths and weaknesses…I am average on everything…sometimes i get the same mcq right and other times it is wrong…so don't know what to think…

    but i think it is a good idea to share what u know….if we start writing the rules on each topic and others add to it…i think it will stick in our mind bcoz we discussed it…only if we come to a mutual end and not create too many confusions…

    @Qlad, thank you so much for your encouraging words, and I get what you're saying about my mom wanting to see me succeed. I kind of think that's why I seriously considered going for the CPA because I was initially against it during college (graduated in 2007) up until the point I decided I would go for it (which was at the end of April this year). I'm still unsure about sitting during this exam window. I just feel like I'm not retaining any of the information from the videos or the notes. I do, however, score fairly well when it comes to theory and concepts (e.g., GAAP vs. IFRS) on the test bank, but I don't do well when it comes to applying such in the problems. I still have a little time to decide my next move, but for all intents and purposes, I still feel as though I learn better in a live classroom. I'm revamping my note taking and making my own little trivia cards out of them because I learn better by action (sort of like I'm preparing to play CPA Jeopardy.). I'll keep studying, and if I do decide to take the live class, at least I'll be ahead of the class.

    Hi, does anyone have a good way of segregating all the rules what goes to OCI, what is reversed, and etc. for impairment, mark-to-market, IFRS revaluation, and subsequent cost recoveries? I keep on getting all of these things mixed up.

    @Qlad I think I told you wrong earlier. When there's a difference between actual and expected return on the fair value of plan assets you use the expected and you don't amortize the difference until the next year. I thought I had it down now I'm just confused again.
