lyzgraceMemberCongrats to everyone who's here because you passed your previous section! I'm a FAR re-take so maybe y'all can help me figure this stuff out for round two.
Didn't feel like this deserved its own thread, but I feel like venting to my ninja comrades. Not only did I get a FAR score of 72 last night, but I got up this morning to discover that my purse and gym bag had been stolen from my car last night and I've spent the entire afternoon canceling cards and filing police and insurance reports. So much for my study day -_- </whineybaby>

SkysTheLimitMemberHello… this is my first time posting, but I need some advice. I found out I passed REG this morning! Yay! But now I need to get serious about FAR. I passed it two years ago with Becker on the first try, but of course lost it. I don't have any materials, so I am looking for suggestions. Really don't want to buy Becker again, so I'm looking at Roger, CPAexcel, Yeager, and Ten Point Combo. What are your thoughts?

NYIACCT89MemberCongrats to everyone who passed a section!
I'm finally done with all 10 becker lectures! (well I will be done with all of the HW by tonight atleast)
That leaves 22 days for me to review this material and drill everything into my head. Does anyone have any advice on the best way to review for this? I'm starting to get overwhelmed with how much material there is to review so I'm open to hearing how people who have successfully passed a section in the past have reviewed.

Becker - Online Course and Flash CardsJune 8, 2013 at 8:27 pm #436417
mypetmeatballMember@lyzgrace. You're hardly being a crybaby. I would be annoyed as hell if I had to go through all that instead of studying. I'm speaking in broad generalizations, but as CPA candidates an inherent guilt lives inside us for not studying when we're supposed to. People complain about score releases, or exam day, but that's the worst part for me bar none. I can barely sit in the backyard and enjoy a cigar without the burning desire to pump out some MCQs so I don't feel bad. The feeling of lost belongings and security is enough of a stressful burden without this stupid exam. I totally sympathize and I'm sure you'll get back on the horse when you can.

koala55Participant@neika822 hey I noticed for the two parts you passed you used Becker and supplemented with NINJA. I was wondering, did you use NINJA for the parts you didn't pass as well. If not do you think this was the reason for your success? I just failed FAR, which is the first section I've failed, and already have Becker but am thinking about supplementing with NINJA and was interested in your opinion. Thanks in advance.

TncincyParticipantI personally like yaeger because they go over the mcq's as they lecture. The cram is great also because they cover the same material just leaves off the mcq's but they assign mcq's and sims. I tried cpaexcel, but it was too tedious for me. The more topics I covered, the far away it seemed to get finished.(just my opinion). From everyone else becker seem to be good for them, but it is pricey. since you had becker already, maybe they will give you a discount or something. I like roger as well, but the use of the program is limited. Don't get overwhelmed, but pick according to your learning style and your pocket. Ninja is a great supplement too.
It begins with a 75

lyzgraceMemberThanks, mypetmeatball. There wasn't anything of great value, so it's definitely more of an inconvenience than anything, but seriously… how much more inconvenient can you get than a trip to the DMV and setting up new bank accounts?!
And that's on top of trying to figure out how to fit THREE sections in before September, which is when we move back to PA. Just an oddly stressful weekend. But when it rains, it pours, right? Congrats on your pass yesterday – three down one to go!

CPA2B_NJMemberI'm planning on taking FAR mid august, so that'll give me about 8 weeks to study. I work full time and I have small baby, so I'm planning on studying 10 hours per week. I already watched all lectures, so this time I'm just killing the MCQ's. Can anyone give me any pointers, or does this seem like a good way to get a passing score with FAR?

UCFCPAMemberCPA2B, that does seem like a reasonable study schedule! I know most people will say you need to study more hours in the week, but I only studied about 10 hours a week for my re-take and I passed with a much higher score than when I was focusing on study a certain number of hours without focusing on quality of study time.
This time, I scheduled it out so I would only be studying mornings before work for 1.5-2 hours a day 5 days a week. I always took the weekends and nights off so I could still spend some time with my husband! So I was really only doing between 8 and 10 hours of studying in a normal week. I started watching Yaeger videos in early March (during busy season), and I finished all 51 hours with 2 weeks to spare for full time MC studying in the Wiley Test Bank. The last couple of weeks I did do MCQs at nights, but only for an hour or 2 a night.
