Keep up the good work everyone!!!

@lvr21 I think the best way to get through FAR is to make sure that you are actively reviewing everything presented in your materials while in “study mode” even in you are a lost on a specific chapter. Oddly enough, things seem to come together in the end. Leave yourself enough time in your study schedule, approx. 2 weeks, to move into “review mode” and cycle through all the topics again making notes of weak topics. Beat the weak topics to death and keep cycling through all the decent to strong topics to keep everything fresh. “Information Rot” as I like to call it is the kiss of death in FAR due to the mass quantity of materials. Keep on your study schedule and stick to your game plan!

Also, don't be afraid to google a topic if you don't like how it's presented. There have been plenty of times where I've read my text and thought “WTF???”, found something on youtube or investopedia, re-read my text and then it all makes sense again.

I felt like a champ last night after finishing off the Government module in Wiley! SO glad to have that off my plate! I read, took detailed notes, and did all the corresponding MCQs with notes on incorrect responses in that massive module. It took most of Friday night and approx. 8 hours yesterday but it was 100% necessary. Today I'm going to spend the day on the NFP module in Wiley and am relieved that it is considerably smaller! Considering that Gov.+NFP combined make approx. 20-24% of FAR, I refuse to take any chances. On my 74 score report, Gov. was my ONLY weak topic so I'm making sure to beat this topic to death.

    I'm studying like I need a 95 to pass!!!! 🙂

    REG: 75 DONE 🙂
    AUD: 61, 71, 68, 92 DONE 🙂
    BEC: 76 DONE 🙂
    FAR: 72, 74, 79 DONE 🙂

    Mints,

Are you studying in specific order ? or are you taking the most difficult or weak areas first.

Like government is at the end of my review materials, by the time I get to it again my mind don't want any more of FAR. What's your suggestion…..

    It begins with a 75

I too am wondering if it's a good idea to begin with governmental or wait until closer to exam day so it's fresh. I know NFP pretty well.

I felt the governmental MCQs on my last exam were pretty easy, but I did fail it so……

    FAR: 65,49,61,74,78
    AUD: 65,68,64,78
    REG: 56,77
    BEC: 75

I'm planning on finally retaking FAR the end of January or beginning of February 2014, but it depends on if I pass BEC. I ordered the 2014 Wiley FAR book. It's thicker than the 2012 book I have 🙁

    REG - 5/29/12 (64), 10/1/12 (74), 5/20/13 (75, expires 12/31/14)
    FAR - 8/14/12 (64), 8/5/14 (75)
    BEC - 11/19/12 (70), 2/25/13 (72), 11/21/13 (73), 1/21/14 (73), 8/30/14 (72), 11/24/14 (75)
    AUD - 4/22/13 (65), 10/12/13 (79)

    I'm done!!!

    Ethics - Pass

    Hello!

I found out I passed AUD on Friday! I was unfamiliar with the scheduling process and signed up for FAR and AUD (to save the application fee) thinking if I failed FAR I could re-take before taking AUD…well I got a 74 on FAR (AGH) then I found out that I would lose my AUD test fee if I did another NTS so I just went ahead and took AUD and now I am back to FAR.

Anyway, I was wondering how you all that have re-taken sections approach re-studying. Do you pretend as though you never studied in the first place, or just work a bunch of MCs and read or watch lectures only for the areas you are weak in? When I tested for FAR I honestly knew the material very well. I had a big issue with time management, which is something I have never struggled with before so I was completely thrown off. I did well in all areas according to the letter they send you as far as the material but I was weaker in SIMs which I knew because I didn't finish them and ended up guessing in the last 10 mins on 4 of them….I would like to take the test in early Jan before busy season gets going, but if I need to re-study like I had never done it before I dont think that is possible. What do you all think?

    FAR - 82
    AUD - 79 (lost credit), 75
    BEC - 76
    REG - 91

After reviewing the entire Wiley text, I definitely notice myself running out of steam at the end too! Considering the weight that is on Gov. & NFP, I decided to start with those modules to make sure it receives the attention to detail it deserves. Because this is unfortunately my third time around on FAR, the thought of doing the modules in the prescribed order yet again gets under my skin. I'm doing the modules in the order that makes sense to to me and for my weaker topics…get the “pain” out of the way while I'm still fresh so to speak! I work in public accounting so the fixed assets, inventory, financial statements, cash flows, aka normal FAR topics will be much less cumbersome for me to review in depth. And of course my final 2 weeks of review will be MCQ and SIM hell over all topics, so it will all catch up in the final 2 weeks.

Tomorrow I'm going to move into SHE, my worst section, and followed by investments…yay? 😉
