I've done a bunch of changes to my study method, and wanted to see what everyone thought. I'm pretty much now just using NINJA (notes, audio, flashcards) and WTB now. I've been studying a section in the book, then doing MCQ's and sims (I do 1 sim for each 12 MCQ's).

I'm wondering if I should do something like this as I move forward: Study one section, do MCQ's on section, then on the next day do MCQ's over all the modules studied so far. That will keep the older stuff fresh, but I'm just thinking about this, anyone have any thoughts/experiences to share?

How long does it take since the sent application to sit for the exam, before you are granted your allowance? I think im running on my 4th week, and still have goals to take it in the last week of Feb, and have yet to hear anything back = .

Also, when you guys are doing the multiple choices, are you simulating like its the CPA exam? meaning, not going over a certain time on a question? (i.e. 90 seconds, 120 seconds, etc. )

@AleFLCPA Thanks! What is everybody's take on practicing simulations? Worth the time or will that practice be made up through the task-based multiple choice questions?

I found this question in Wiley test bank and I think the answer to this question is wrong in the bank.

Can some one please tell me which answer will they choose and why?

Jackson company classifies trading securities as an operating activity based on their nature and purpose. In a statement of cash flows in which the operating activities section is prepared under the indirect method, the realized gain on an investment in securities held of trading should be presented as a(n)

    a. Addition to net income in the amount of the securities' fair value at the beginning of the period.

    b. Cash inflow from investing activities.

    c. Deduction from net income in the amount of the gain.

    d. Both a deduction from net income in the amount of the gain and cash inflow from investing activities.

    FAR 79

    Hi smsingla

I'm going with A. It's an operating activity based on the nature and purpose. When reconciling with NI, net income already includes the gain, so then you would just need to add the carrying value to get the total cash that was received.

    How'd I do? 🙂

    AUD: 82* Expired; 90
    BEC: 77
    REG: 72,87
    FAR: 72, 68, 87

@TxMBA, u got it right. I chose C because I thought that to reconcile NI from accrual to cash basis for Statement of Cash flows, u subtract gain from NI. I think I read it wrong. Thanks for your help

@cwobannon, I need desperately a study group as well (Im in Arlington, Tx). Maybe we can all meet on a free conference line or something . Just set a time and section for everyone to be on. And work on problems and sections together and make sure we are all on track! #justathought
