In case this helps someone, just came up with a way to remember what to use when Functional Currency = Local Currency.

Asset & Liab translation – use Current rate as of B/S date (because A from Asset is close to C from Current in the alphabet)

Revenue & Exp. translation – use Weighted avg, exchange rate for the current year (because R from revenue is close to W)

I realize this is a tiny fact, but you never know.

By the way remember that functional currency is the currency in which the entity operates or “functions.”

    BEC: 73, 81
    AUD: 85
    FAR: 71, 77
    REG: 74, 75...finally DONE! 😀

*This is my 2nd attempt at the CPA exam. For all of you who have failed this exam many times, given up on it, or taken a break like me, remember that it is still possible to finish what you started...failure is the opportunity to begin again more intelligently 🙂

For govt.: Accrual basis uses current economic resources focus while modified accrual basis uses current financial resources focus. To remember, think easy as ABC = “A”ccrual “B”asis uses “C”urrent economic resources focus.

Modified Accrual = Measurable & Available = MAMA

Following in Amor's footsteps and coming up with my own acronyms, it really helps! 😉

Good luck to everyone testing tomorrow and Friday. I just finished my second Becker practice exam with just under 2 hours remaining and now have a few things to brush up on before I hit the sack.

    Becker Exam 1: 70.3

    Becker Exam 2: 75.3

If the Becker vs. actual grade differences are even remotely accurate, I have a decent chance of passing. Let's hope! Good luck!!
