A tip that Roger says that for long problems, read the last line of the question first to see what they want, then read from the beginning. It helps me a lot when they present so much unnecessary information.

@zieba obviously I don't want it bad enough seeing as I've been studying nonstop for 18 months.

I've been studying for FAR since December, so while yes, it's irresponsible, but I am not in a time crunch to lose credits yet. It was my best friend's 30th out of town, so I had to go.

If you don't know journal entries you may be screwed when it comes to the SIMS because that's the part that utilized JEs most in my WTB & Beckers SIMS. But using JEs to help with MCQs is also good because it can help you when you don't remember what increases where. At least thats how i think.

For instance you can't remember if Accounts Payable has a Debit or Credit balance, so i would right down the journal entry to record a payable.

    Dr Inventory

    Cr AP

This entry increases AP so AP has a credit balance.

Knowing JEs also helps when you have to “plug” a number, like in a sale of an asset.

    Ex:

    Asset Original cost 10,000

    Accum Depr. 9,000

    Sold the asset for 3,000

How much is the Gain and is it a debit or a credit? Well just start doing the JE for this transaction.

    DR Cash 3,000

    DR Accum Depr 9,000

    Cr Asset Cost 10,000

Gain = DR/CR? And how much

    Gain = CR 2,000 (12,000 – 10,000)

Your debits and credits always have to equal so the debits total 12,000 (Cash + AD) and your credits equal 10,000. Your gain is a 2,000 Credit because the credit side is the uneven side.

Hey everyone. Stumbled across this site a week or two ago. Scheduled to take FAR 2/27. This will be my first exam. I have a few questions.

-For those using Becker, how closely related were the practice MCQs and SIMs to those you encountered on the actual exam (for any section)? I notice that many are dated in the 90's.

-I have a decent grasp on the material, but likely couldn't regurgitate what I know without the aid of formatted questions like the one's I've studies. I can answer Becker questions decently well, but if someone walked up to me and said, “explain _____ to me,” my head my explode from attempting to sort through all the topics running through my head right now. Has anyone felt the same? For those who have, did you test while feeling like this? How did you do?

Just sat outside during lunch and did Ninja flashcards. I think that break I had seriously helped me because I was doing really well on them. I was doing terribly last week, so I think my brain was on overload. I wish my exam was Saturday instead but hopefully I can continue remembering things.
