MintsRGoodParticipant@kappa1032 I will do approx. half the MCQs after I read and outline the chapter to reinforce the concept and the other half I reserve for my final review so I have fresh MCQs to practice on. I have a tendency to memorize the MCQs so this way seems to help!

AnonymousInactive@Kels, yes I agree, Gleim is kicking my butt too. But this is only my first time through the FAR material, but there is some info I thought I knew from college and I don't according to my practice scores. I'm scoring from 40-60 the first time through, then slowly improving when I move away from the study units and into the test bank for just questions. I'm trying to do all of the questions at least twice between now and test day (1/6), but we'll see how that goes with xmas and everything, even though I don't have any planned days off of studying, you know how it goes.

gytdytMemberI got a question, if I'm really good at intermediate acct (I and II) at college, the FAR is supposed to be easy to me?

MintsRGoodParticipant@gytdyt No. FAR is not easy, even if you rocked your financial accounting courses. π What kills you on FAR is the quantity, not necessarily the technical difficulty of the topics. That being said, topics like DEPS, derivatives and hedges, stock appreciation rights, and consolidations aren't exactly for lightweights either. You'll be in a good spot to start! What materials are you using to prep?
@CPABelieverCaligirl IMHO, you need to beat the SIMS to death so you are prepared on exam day. I think it's helpful to practice the SIMS using the AL in study mode so you aren't fumbling around with it on exam day. Did you register for access to the FASB codification? It's the full one similar to test day, not like watered down version that Wiley provides.

kels417Member@clarissa – glad I'm not the only one! I was starting to get worried and switched back to Wiley to see if I was just not understanding the material or if Gleim was being overly difficult. Seems like it's a bit of both. I'm not quite where I would like to be, but I'm not doing as bad as Gleim had me thinking!
And yes…I hear you. I plan on taking Christmas off in that I won't be doing MCQ or Sims, but I will definitely have my flashcards out and want to try to get through at least 2-3 chapters of them. We shall see! Keep up the good work! We can do it!!!

AnonymousInactive@CPABeliever – I do believe in practicing the SIMs. The SIMs Gleim provides are really great practice and most are not easy, but I find myself understanding the topics much better by practicing the SIMs.
@Kels – Yes, Gleim does make you think you are doing much worse than you really are because the difficulty level seems to be quite a bit harder, but I like that, because it actually prepares you better for the exam, IMO. I plan on doing questions on xmas day, but we'll see how it goes. π I've read a few times in emails I've gotten from Gleim, that they consider a 65% on a study unit passing.
