AnonymousInactiveI felt like this post would benefit this thread better.
@skinnyb111 Yes, I used Becker. Where should I start… I would say the most important part for me was the review time. The 1st time I took it, I had one day of review. I took AUD right after and failed that too (lack of review again).
RE-STUDY: I decided to go after FAR again and basically had to learn everything again. I went through all the chapters again (no lectures). Took tons of notes on what I thought was important and did multiple choices over again (took notes on what I got wrong & marked them). I also purchased Ninja Notes and read through it twice. It was nice to have a high-level overview of the material compared to my super detailed notes. I tried to rewrite the notes, but only got through 3/4 of it.
REVIEW: Save at least 2 weeks for review. I only had 1 & 1/2 weeks to review. I reviewed my notes only for the sections, followed by progress test for each section (20-30 multiple choice). I saved one of my final days for full concentration on the SIM's. I started to run out of time and never got to the final practice exam. If I had a little more time, I probably would have done better.
EXAM DAY: I felt good about the SIMS during the exam, but the MCQ were tough. I always felt overwhelmed and exhausted when I got to the SIMS, but I fought through it and focused on the easy one's first. My tip: utilize the research function if you're stuck on a SIM. You might get lucky and find the solution, but don't waste too much time. Make sure you attempt to do all of the SIMS, even if you're not sure how too.
50/50/50/90 was how much time I focused on each portion of the exam.
Study hard and spend time trying to memorize as much as you can. Ninja notes made it easier to focus on what I should memorize. I added my notes on top of that. Don't give up! Hope this helps.

MintsRGoodParticipantI'm glad that I have sympathizers on the absurdity of dollar value LIFO! What a worthless topic. Does anyone else immediately think of hangman when diagraming the lower of cost or market? I do! I'm wrapping up inventory tonight and will dive into bonds next. Can't wait to start grinding out effective interest schedules until my arm falls off this weekend! ๐
For those preparing for a FAR rematch…does it ever make you angry when you've set your test bank to include all topics on 30 MCQ sets, you get questions that are unfamiliar/answer isn't memorized, you drill closed books/notes, and you get scores in the 80-90% range? It's like “why the hell didn't that happen on test day?”. That's how I've found myself the last few days…maybe I'm still salty about my 74 but it makes me want to scream. I would have a more logical study strategy if I'd received a 64. It's really hard to back through all these topics and try to figure out where you went wrong when you get so close to passing. It's total insult to injury when it's your last part too. Ugh.
OK…rant over! ๐

AnonymousInactiveHey @Mints, I feel your pain with the 74. BUT that means we just need to fill in the little holes of our previous studies and then we are golden.
Studying during holidays is tough, especially with traveling but NO EXCUSES! WE WILL PASS this exam in 2014!
*Feeling pumped*

kappa1032ParticipantHey all, I've got a quick question on your studying methods…
What's your process on doing the MCQ? Do you do them after watching/reading each chapter or do you watch all the lectures for the whole course before you start any MCQ?
Good luck to everybody taking this monster of a test!
FAR - 81
REG - 74, 87
AUD - 88
BEC - 88Finally.

Kls238Member@kappa1032 The first time I studied FAR I watched a lecture then did the MCQs. This time around I skipped watching videos again, but I did go through the entire book and took crazy notes before I did any MCQs or SIMs. I feel I'm learning much better with this method.
… Anyone have advice on how much time to leave for review and what to do during your review? Do you redo all the MCQs again or just the ones you marked or struggled with?
Passed all sections.

kappa1032ParticipantThanks kls, appreciate the feedback. It's so daunting going through all the lectures knowing i have a crap-ton of MCQ and sims I haven't even gone through yet.
I believe the answer you'll hear the most is two weeks of review and going through all the MCQ's at least once more. I'd let you know when I get there, but I'm pretty sure you'd be over and done with FAR by then.

Kls238Member@kappa1032 Yea, I hear you. I get really bored when going through the lectures. Try doing some questions (even just. 10-20) between lectures so you don't go stir crazy and so you can a feel of the questions.
Passed all sections.
