There is an option at the top that says select from “All Questions”. Just change the “All Questions” to “Questions answered incorrectly more than” and the next box you can put in “1” time.

Goodwill impairment under GAAP – tested at reporting unit level (use the 2 step test)

Step1: Undiscounted cash flows – Carry value = IF impaired .. if yes, move to step 2

Step2: Fair Value – Carry value = impairment loss

Goodwill impairment under IFRS – tested at cash generating unit (1 step test)

Impairment = Carry Value – Recoverable Amount

^^ Recoverable amount is the greater of a) Sales – Cost to sell or b) value in use

Cash generating unit will include all of your assets. So if they list out goodwill, patents, other assets, you take the carry value of all of the assets to compare to your recoverable amount. You apply the impairment to goodwill first and then allocate to the rest of the accounts afterwards.

    BEC: 65 - 79* - 84 DONE
    AUD: 65 - 76 DONE
    REG: 63 - 77 DONE
    FAR: 65 - 63 - 67 - 69 - 73 - 71 - 83 DONE

Well, my first (and hopefully last) battle with FAR is over. I was feeling very confident after the 90 MCQ's, but then came the SIMS. I have not struggled with time management in the other 3 exams (had time to spare in all of them), but this one was different.

I learned that an hour and 8 minutes (per the AICPA countdown on my exam) was not quite enough time to confidently answer the SIMS. I did finish them all, but I felt rushed on the last two questions and was actually entering my final answer as time expired. Now the grueling wait begins…hurry up February 25! I need to know whether to celebrate or study some more for another bout with FAR!

Best of luck to all studying hard for an exam this window! I wish you the best!

    AUD - 90 (07/05/13)
    REG - 87 (08/29/13)
    BEC - 84 (12/02/13)
    FAR - 82 (02/10/14)

Thanks @sm & @ivr! I think my confusion is more with the committed and restricted definitions. I guess I have to remember that restricted means the assets are restricted by EXTERNAL authorities

    BEC: 73, 81
    AUD: 85
    FAR: 71, 77
    REG: 74, 75...finally DONE! 😀

*This is my 2nd attempt at the CPA exam. For all of you who have failed this exam many times, given up on it, or taken a break like me, remember that it is still possible to finish what you started...failure is the opportunity to begin again more intelligently 🙂
