TncincyParticipantWow Liss, You should get a 99 with this study plan. I hope it's not too much or over kill where you become over whelmed. What if you can't do all that. I mean life is still life…….But what ever it takes to pass go for it.
It begins with a 75

Liss, Master of CoinParticipant@tncincy, all I need is a 75 🙂 I just hope that is enough for me to pass.
I agree, I don't want to get over whelmed. I've decided that whenever I feel like a break I'm going to allow myself to take one. But the next day get back to studying.

TncincyParticipant@Liss,
I understand. After failing far dismally I need to be doing everything you're doing and some. 75 is all we need but I didn't appreciate the last failing score. I almost quit, but I know wanting to quit was just a pouting reaction. I just needed to nail it down and study. That's what I'm doing. Everyday. And if or when I get overwhelmed, I will also take a break or as others said build in a reward. Study hard take a day off….Goof around, make excuses study everyday. I realize the key is consistency and a made up mind. There is no better time than now……Let's do this :-))

kels417MemberGuys! I got the best email possible from the IL Board of Examiners. I am able to test on January 2nd without losing credit for Audit which expires on that day. (I just found out on Saturday that I had failed it with a 69) ONE MORE CHANCE!!!!
22 days until test day. Any and all advice welcome.
I have been using Becker (book, lectures, hw, and flashcards), have ninja notes, wrote my own notes, WTB, and Gleim. I didn't do much with Gleim my last time around so I am planning on doing as many questions and simulations with it as possible as Becker is obviously not doing the job. I don't know what sections i did poorly in, so i'm going to wing it. I just started my new job, but my boss has told me that I can study when I have down time, so I plan on bringing my flashcards in and possibly rewriting notes.
HELP! I HAVE to pass.
Illinois

KenadaMemberHello Kels417 – This is my advice for you and you really need to go for it. Put in your all. It may mean you have the worst xmas and news years but come 2nd of Jan it will be well worth it.
My recommendation is start over like you have never done FAR in your life. Because many times when we retake we say oh I was strong here so I won't bother doing as much.
Go through each chapter by chapter – read your CPA review book – then do a set of 20 practice questions. See how weak you are – then re read the areas you got wrong and then write nugget notes as little pointers to remind you why this was the answer – Re do practice set of 20 until you are getting over 70 to 80 % right.
Move on to the next chapter. Repeat process stated above
After you have done all the chapters. You will truly see where you are struggling and where you are doing okay. Focus on the weak areas then. But keep doing at least 20 to 50 random questions on the area you are strong in so you don't forget the material. Do as many JE on your own as that will help you get the big picture to solve any question that is thrown at you.
By the time 2nd comes in you should feel like the FAR material is ingrained in your head and you can battle any question that comes along. You should feel totally blue from all the practice you have done. Hope this helps and go for it with all your heart. Don't hold back!!! Good Luck!

kels417Member@InsiWinsi – you rock! Thank you for that advice.
I only have the Becker book, so you think I should focus on rereading those chapters and redoing the questions? My only hesitation is that I have already done all of the Becker questions around 5 times and feel like I have them down. Maybe I'll do the 20 questions like you suggested and then add in WTB and Gleim question sets as well, so I can see the same topic asked in different ways. It's going to be a very intense 22 days!

RKOllerMemberI'm scheduled to take FAR on Feb 22. I'm working with CPAExcel + Wiley TB + Ninja notes and audio. This is my first section, took FAR last year and since my NTS was expiring I took it without adequate study…..got a 52, and was killed by the sims.
This time around I'm going to pass!
My problem this time around seems to be a lack of accounting practice. I work as a budget analyst for a university, but beyond basic journal entries, I really do more financial analysis than accounting. So, if anyone has any good tips on a refresher on basic formulas, and JE's, I could probably use that!

NeverGiveUpCPAMember@kels417 – That's great! I agree with what Insi said as far as a study plan. It's only 22 days, so make the best of every one one of those 22 days. And just as a side note, I've used Becker, Yeager w/Wiley book, WTB, and Gleim. The only time I've scored “stronger” in the SIMS is when I used Gleim. It works the best for my study style. So study the way that works best for you. You can do it! And now you've inspired me to put more effort into my study time! This is my last one too.
