I don't post often but after studying for 8-10 hours or so with an hour break in between, I just need to vent. I studied for AUD had very strong progress. Overall, it took me roughly 1 month to go cover to cover with a solid understanding of the material. FAR is just a beast, it takes at least 2 – 3x longer to get through a section. F4 is deceptively long. Inventory is easy on the outside but COGS can be tricky sometimes -_-

Question for the forum. Is it better to just plow though the MCQ educated guessing in 1.5 minutes or to analyze them and try to take your best guess? I used to do the latter but felt it takes too long to get through the materials. 5-8 minutes per adds up. What are some strategies to soak up the MCQ as efficiently as possible in FAR?

I've been at it most of the day fam. Just reviewing notes and I made a GAAP v IFRS spreadsheet. (thanks to mcq from cpaforfree) and the Wiley summary.

Also went back to deferred taxes and made some new cards.

    But nothing like Hustlin!!

Good luckl!!! You can do this 🙂

@dutkas – a very common strategy is to cover the material in it's entirety twice. The first time… plow through, just get through it all. From what I hear about Becker some of the beginning comes full circle at the end and makes more sense after F5 (which I hear is horrid) it all gets a little better from there.

The second time through you should be using the questions to really set the knowledge into memory. That's the time to make flashcards and commit to memorizing mnemonics, equations, journals, etc.

Sudha – I look at it like this, if my taxes will go up in the future because of a difference it is a liability – I will need to pay more

If my taxes will go down in the future it is an asset, a benefit.

It has been working for me….so far

    A - 61, 91!!

    F - 76!!!

Best of luck to everyone taking their exams this week! I will miss you in this forum when you move on to bigger and better sections. Everyone has been so helpful and motivating, that I can't imagine my next weeks of studying without you all. Maybe check-in every once in awhile for us newbies, please?

With that being said……….I wish the FAR exam was on Working Capital, Inventory, and Fixed Assets alone!!!! Up next: Leases and Bonds. Yuck!!!!
