Thanks peetree! After a 73 and 74, I'm ready to get over the FAR hump! Both of the first two times, I got comparable on simulations, so as long as I continue that and pick up some more points in the mcq, I should be good.

They aren't going to know what hit them! I got my 74 in November and lost my BEC credit for it. I took the month of December off to regroup and have been killing it the last two months! I know I'm prepared and am expecting nothing but good things tomorrow. Just think, two weeks from today and our scores will be coming out! HiYa!!

5 days till my, hopefully last, exam. Did my first practice exam last night on Wiley… 79!

I know I have some weak areas, just need to keep banging out these mcq's and hopefully get them down. 🙂

Hi all

Need help with St of Cash Flows. Just dont seem to be getting it. I am using Wiley ( only for MCQ) & Becker ( whole thing).

Any suggestions on where to get a good understanding of this chapter?

REG - 1/12: 77 (DONE!)

The best examples I have found for Stmt of CF are through Becker. The nmemonic for 85% of the operating activites under indirect method is CLAD. Current assets and Liabilities, Losses and Gains, Amortization and Depreciation, and Deferred Items. Investing Activities are made up of noncurrent assets and Financing Activities are made up of Debt and Equity.

An easy way to remember the operating activities for indirect method is that debit balance accounts have the opposite affect. Ex. – an increase in accounts receivable is subtracted from net income. Credit balance accounts have the same affect. Ex. – an increase in accounts payable is added to net income.

To me Yaeger Fake Cash method is the best method for doing cash flows.

Ex. Sales: 500

Increase in AR: 50 500 – 50 = 450

Dr. AR 50

Cr. Fake Cash 50 (Outflow)

You just have to know all the associated accounts.

or COGS: (500) (500)out + (50)out + (100)out = (650)

Decrease in AP: 50

Increase in Inventory: 100

Dr. AP 50

Cr. Fake Cash 50 (outflow)

Dr. Inventory 100

Cr. Fake Cash 100 (outflow)

CLAD is a nice nmemonic. So easy to remember.
