I plan to start studying for FAR on Dec 29th. I will be using Becker. There are 9 chapters. I plan on only doing the homework questions for 1 chapter each day. That will be about 200 Questions per day. I estimate roughly 5-6 study hours per day to complete and understand these questions. Should have all the studying I need in less than 60 hours.

P.S I crammed this way 2 days before the REG and scored a 78. I hope I am not too confident but found cramming the best method for me. This way I don't have time to forget anything.

Hi Ekca. There are a lot of options out there as far as study material. cpareviewforfree.com is a good one. There are over 600 FAR multiple choice questions to work. They also have a $30 option for simulations and, I believe, additional multiple choice questions. I'm not sure how indepth you plan to study. If you would like a course like Becker (lectures, book, MCQs and simulations), you may be able to get an older version for significantly cheaper. I believe there were little changes from 2012 and I think some people are even able to utilize the 2011 material. The NINJA plan has also been helpful to many of us and is much cheaper than Becker.

I think most people choose FAR as their first test. It's the biggest of all and the most intimidating. People want to knock it out first. Although, the other three aren't a cakewalk either. I chose FAR last. I can't say it was the best choice but, it is what it is so I've got to make the best of it. I do have to say though, after preparing for 3 other exams, my studying skills are down to a science. I'm effecient and effective and know where to focus my attention.

What do people consider the hardest sections of FAR? I guess follow up would be which have people found to be relatively light – study once and refresh but other than that it's okay?

    A - 10/28/12 - Passed!!!
    B - 11/20/12 - Passed!!!
    F - 11/12/13 - Passed!!!
    R - 02/01/13 - Passed!!!

    Work Experience - Done!

So my goal is to watch and take notes on all of the lectures by January 1 that gives me 5 weeks of MCQs, reviewing my notes, reading NINJA notes and practice exams. I also realise that's only 2 weeks to watch all the lectures….. Might be tight.

@ekca1212 I don't know if I could have personally handled FAR first, mostly because it would have been overwhelming for me. But i am a little worried i have FAR and REG left. That being said everyone is different, do what you think will work best for you. Also they get mixed reviews on the board but cpaexcel and gleim are two reasonable priced study packages.

    Good luck to all

    A - 61, 91!!
    B - 78!
    F - 76!!!
    R - 71, 73, 74, 69, 77!!!!

    Finally done!

This is my 2nd attempt at the exam, I had two parts passed (failed many) and I stupidly quit, big mistake. Now I'm back and with a vengeance!

Studying is going good for me…..trying to stay on track and keep reading, taking notes, and listening to ninja audio since I don't have any lecture videos. I am preparing for tax season too so I just finished the required continued education for registered tax preparers. I was really hoping to be certified before having to take the irs preparers exam but I guess it really doesn't matter. One way or another I am going to pass this test. So let the hard work begin. Open for any tips…. I happen to have all afternoon and evening to study.

    It begins with a 75
Been here too long as a cheerleader....ready to pass

    IFRS vs US GAAP

In the back of the Becker review book there is a an appendix that summarizes all of the differences between the two. I made copies of it, blew it up a tiny bit and am now in the process of cutting them and stapling them to flashcards.

    Guys,

I am just wondering, after going over all the chapters, how much time do you leave to just review until the exam date?

    How long is enough?

    BEC 5.31
    FAR 86
    REG 84
    AUD 78

@CPAwanabe looks like we are in similar boats with the exams. Both sat before and have FAR and REG left! When are you sitting for FAR?

@krystal everyone is different. I watch the lectures once then read notes, do MCQ, and SIMs till my eyes bleed. I also listen to NINJA audio and read NINJA notes. For FAR I'm hoping for 4/5 weeks of this pretty much non stop. I'm hoping it's enough…

    A - 61, 91!!
    B - 78!
    F - 76!!!
    R - 71, 73, 74, 69, 77!!!!
