Getting a late start on studying tonight! Hoping to get 3-4 hours in before I crash….

In other news I moved my test, I was able to find a date on 2/26 about 40 min away. It is not my usual testing center but I do not feel ready for next Saturday, and I know this weekend I wont be able to get as much time in as I need to make a final push (wedding, best friend in town, ect), so I wanted to push the exam back and this was the first time I was able to find another opening! This will give me an extra Saturday and Sunday which I think can make all the difference for me.

So now you will be stuck with me for a few extra days!

R - 71, 73, 74, 69, 77!!!!

This is my 2nd attempt at the exam, I had two parts passed (failed many) and I stupidly quit, big mistake. Now I'm back and with a vengeance!

Does anyone know the easiest way to remember Cash flow statement both direct & indirect method. I am just looking for a better approach than just cramming this long list.

Kicked butt last night and power thru chapter 9 section one. I went from behind one day to ahead a day in 12 hours!!!

Today's Plan: Finish chapter 9 (not-for-profits) and possibly start chapter 10.

I just memorized the direct and indirect methods for the most part. Indirect has the formula:

NI from income statement

+ depreciation and amortization of discount

+ losses

– Gains

– amortization of premiums

– equity earnings in an affiliate (equity method)

+/- change in operating assets and liabilities

For the direct method I just try to remember that an increase in assets is an outflow and an increase in liabilites/equity is an inflow. If the category you're being asked for has an outflow balance (e.g. cash paid to suppliers), outflows increase the balance. If it has an inflow balance (e.g. cash received from customers), inflows increase the balance.

@Yemdross – for SCF – I just made sure I really understand N-direct begin with Net Income. Knowing Net Income and I back out non cash revenues and add in non cash expenses. IDK, works for me.

Gonna re-write the ninja notes this weekend and get arthritis in the process 😀

Hopefully take the Becker 2nd final practice exam on Sunday before a full week of reading and flashcards next week before Thursday.
