MCLKTParticipantAwe!!! Nam I <<33 YOU, lol.
I may be able to take a long lunch tomorrow and get a couple extra study hours. We have deadlines to meet in the morning,so I just didn't have a choice.
I'm in the central timezone, but I will probably be up 2:30 am eastern.
Joch, I'm a night owl by nature. No matter what time I get up, my productivity is barely existent before 10 am, lol. I usually get the most done and at my mental peak between 6pm and midnight. Then I slowly fade, unless I have plenty of coffee/red bull nearby.
POWERNIGHT FAR FAM!
CPA1 – IDK how… I'm just going it over and over and praying that it is stuck in my brain somewhere and on test day it will present itself, lol.

AnonymousInactiveYeah it does, I think if you get the concepts down you should be fine on exam day. I always emphasize the use of note cards because they're such more presentable to read and look at compare to your notes on legal pads and the wiley books haha. Reading it every couple days also helps keep things fresh. I worry that I wont remember things on exam day though, Idky.

HustlinHustlinMemberPOWER NIGHT! POWER NIGHT! Finishing NFP notes and a bunch of MCQ – then it is all review from here!!!
Planning date night tomorrow so my studying will have to be done at lunch and morning.
New morning plan will be in full effect. Right now, my alarm goes off at 5 am – boyfriend goes into guest room to sleep. I usually lay there and lately just fall back asleep…
Well, we got in a mini fight today when he came in 2 hours later and saw I was still asleep. It really makes me feel like a POS that he pulls so hard for me to be done to the point where he spends most time sleeping on the couch or gets up way earlier than he needs to so I can get something done…and what do I do?? Wait until he leaves the room and pass out again.
So now, plan is…I get right up, leave the room, grab coffee on my way and study in the guest room. I think the change of atmosphere will be good for me.
AHHHH! This window has just been….frustrating….because I did not maintain forward movement from the last two exams. I think taking December off was a terrible idea. I have not been able to fully commit myself to studying. Ugh.
Another thing, I am going on a mini-vacation this weekend. I will be taking my whole set up with me and studying Saturday though and any other downtime I may have – so the only day I might miss is Sunday. TIME TO HUSTLE!!!!!!!!! Plan for the weekend is mainly to review the MCQ in the book, summarys and sample questions and to create JE flashcards.
I have full faith in PeeTree, MCLKT and of course the homegirl NAM!! You guys have been killing it and so motivated!!!

MCLKTParticipantHUSTLIN!!! It's so refreshing to read your new plan! We still have 2 weeks to get er done. I'm glad to see you getting in gear. Try really hard not to lose that drive with date night and a mini vacay.
Alright, starting the clock, be back in a couple hours!

splinter1643MemberJust wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience. I've been getting mid-70s to 85 on Wiley online practice questions, and generally 85-90s on Becker, but when I set out to re-do the problems again and take the practice exams at the back of the Wiley book, it's like I completely forgot everything! How do you overcome that? Is it possible I'm actually memorizing the problems and not really learning some of the concepts?

yemdrossMemberHow many times do i need to remind myself that stock dividend need to calculated retroactive when calculating WASCO..Ughhh, I missed so many questions because of this stupid mistakes..Does anyone know the easiest way to remember chapter 7 especially dilutive EPS & calculating WASCO..I can't afford to miss this piece of cake in the test!
Powering through….
I read somewhere yesterday and a serious question was asked…When life comes at you with ugly things like CPA, are you going to accept the disappointment as if you have already prepared for it ,dust it off then move on or are you going to cry like a baby and forget why you tried in the first instance…My answer, I am prepared, dust it off and try again!
Happy studying!

I CAN'T KEEP CALM UNTIL I BECOME A CPAFebruary 14, 2013 at 5:17 am #400242
MCLKTParticipantYemdross you are so positive ๐
ok, so WACC: try this…
say 100 outstanding 1/1/x1 = 12/12 * 100 ===100 weighted
issue 300 more 7/1/x1 = 6/12 * 300===150 weighted
15% stock dividend 9/1/01 ===
100 + 150 = 250 total weighted outstanding at time of dividend
+ (15%)*250 =37.5 weighted dividend shares
====287.50==== weighted average as of 9/1/x1
issue 20 on 10/1/x1 = 3/12*20=== 5
Total WA common stock 100+150+37.5+5 = 292.5 (that's your denominator) for BASIC.

yemdrossMember@MCLKT, thanks for the illustration, you have just nailed it for me…That 01/01/X1 was one of my issues, so I can just use 12/12* the outstanding CS to avoid confusion then I should be comfortable with other dates within the year..I should always note that my stock dividend is one year regardless when or how..I dont care!
Powered UP!!!

Thank you Nam and MCLKT! Sorry for my lack of activity on the board…sometimes I have to stay away from it because I see you guys killin it and it crushes my confidence!
Doing relatively well on Govt and NFP – that section I know pretty well bc of working with it. However, government JEs will trip me up…

MCLKTParticipantAnother successful Power Night! Good job everyone ๐
Hustlin – I can completely relate. It's like, I don't feel like going to the gym when I haven't been keeping up, but as soon as I finally go… it actually helps me get back on track and I almost immediately feel better.
I was ready to reschedule my exam, I'm so glad I brought those thoughts to the board, there is so much support here! We got your back, you can do this. Get amped… get angry… ATTACK, lol.
Got my schedule set for the next 7 days and it feel so much more manageable when it's written out.
Peetree, in your final review days you may want to write out some of your most helpful mnemonics, formulas, etc on one sheet of paper. Kind of practice writing it out quickly and kind of small. You will want to be able to do a “data dump” right when you start your exam. Write out your favorite helpful hints, but keep it small becuase you will need scratch paper for the exam. And if it gets full you have to turn it in to get another.
Yemdross – Glad it helped!!
CPA1Fresh – yes, my review material (Yaeger/Wiley) covers Present value as a separate topic and then again with Bonds and Leases.
Finishing up Investments tonight (maybe some extra MCQ at work tomorrow). Then Financial Instruments tomorrow night.
Sweet Dreams FAR FAM.
