Becker always throws in about 5 questions that just really trick me.

I went through the first half of F3 for the 2nd time yesterday and got between 86-93% on the different sections. Going through the second half of F3 tonight on Acquisition method and Intercompany transactions. I'm feeling good with where I am at right now. On my current schedule, I will finish going through the becker mcq for a 2nd time 4 days before my test. That gives me a couple days to tie up any lose ends and finally get over the FAR hump!

Yeah i'm with you. Going over the multiple choice questions the first time helps you learn the topics. Going over them a second time really helps you master and solidify that knowledge.

Question : need help with answer

As per simulation Present value is given = $366,976 but I still want to calculate it to build my confidence.

Here are the detail:

SP: $400,000

Annual 10 lease payments: $ 50,000, first payment due on Dec31,00

Bargain option = $10,000

Borrowing rate = 8%

PV of ordinary annuilty @ 8% 9 year = 6.24689

PV of ordinary annuity @8% 10 years = 6.71

PV for $1 @8% 10 years = 0.46319

The way I solved is :

50,000*6.71*6.71 + 10,000*0.46319 = $= $340,131 .. am I missing anything???? Or may be I am misreading the question ????????? HELP!!!

@Nam I posted this on your other thread too not sure why but saw that one first…

I think it works like this

50,000*6.24689 + 10,000*.46319 +50,000 = 366,976.40

The first payment is due now so you only use the present value of 9 and add the full 50,000 paid at dec 31 to get total present value

I hope this looks right I'm on my phone at work :/

Wow there are so many calculations.

My exam is on April 19,2013

Will 10 weeks be enough for FAR ?

I was suppose to start a week and a half ago but had minor setbacks.

Is there a big difference between the 2011 and 2013 FAR test bank from Wiley? I can't afford to buy an updated version and I'm hoping that the 2011 version will be sufficient. I'm working my way through all the questions in the book and am also reading through it a 2nd time. 15 days till I conquer this beast.

Nam no problem, it was actually a good review for me, and has me thinking I MAY have finally grasped the concept! Leases will no kill me, I won't let them! Now of I could only feel that way about bonds :/

I'm still in light review stage and finishing up sitting requirements but Bonds are a crazy bitch. I have a cursory understanding of most of the FAR material but Bonds are definitely going to take some serious review. This coming from somebody who already has a very firm solid understanding of bond valuation/present value calcs (undergrad in Finance), which I presume is a bit of an obstacle for many of you out there. Still….so many different options and variations….

MCLKT…FAR is such a huge topic that even a retest I imagine would be hard in just a few weeks prep. You could put it off until April and then squeeze in the best of your remaining two topics in May? The good news about almost passing all four your first round is that your 18 month window JUST started 🙂
