    Hello all,

Kinda new to this forum. Looking for some words of motivation…i have three papers down and the last one ( FAR) that i am not able to get through. I REALLY need to get this done this month as I start a new job next month. I just dont feel motivated to study for FAR anymore…i know I have to.

Any suggestions that will help me focus and get me to stay on track? Exam is in 2 weeks…i remember most of it from last time..and doing OK on the MCQ's ~ 75% . I got nailed on the SIMS last time..

    Help!!!!

    @sudha

Would you rather prolong this even more or would you rather get it done now?

Strive to get that MCQ average closer to 85% Strive to get your knowledge engrained! Go into that exam feeling confident. Like most things in life, confidence is key!

Its not a question of can, but will.

    You will do this.

Sudha – at one point when I really needed some motivation to keep studying, even when I didn't feel like it, someone on here told me, “Think of all the other things you MUST do in life, even though you don't feel like it. But you do it anyways, because you must. Like go to work, take out the trash, clean the house, mow the lawn.”

If you set “bite size” goals and just take one step at a time, before you know it, you will have covered an entire chapter's worth of review.

Just force yourself to go through the motions, read the material, answer the questions, even when you don't feel like it.

Do it now, get it done. Decide everything you want to cover between now and exam day. Then give yourself 2 lessor days to do it. Break it out, plan each day, and do it. Then spend those last 2 days building your confidence.

The worst feeling ever is waiting those long days after taking the exam but before score release. Analyzing every question you can remember. Going over and over again the nights you took off before the test that you could have been studying. Kicking yourself for feeling like you could have done more and being so afraid, that you didn't do enough.

On the other hand, there is not fear nor regret when you know you have been disciplined and did everything you possibly could to prepare. Then score release day is exciting!

When you prepare, even test day is exciting. No more, “oh, crap I test in 2 days aggggghhhhh!!!!!”

It becomes, “watch out FAR, I'm coming for you in 2 days! It's on! I can't wait to go slay the beast!”

    One step at a time.

Sudha- I know exactly how you feel!!! I found that sitting down and writing out exactly what you want to accomplish each day until your test really helps.

I scheduled out what section I would do each night, even assigning days where I just do progress tests. Then if I accomplish my assigned tasks for the day, I reward myself with a half hour of free time to do whatever…..or if I feel like it I will do an extra progress test.

By taking it day by day, It's much less overwhelming than just saying I need to do 2 chapters this week.

Don't think about next month and worry about your new job, because stress and worry, focus on now and putting your all into this so you can be done for good!!!

You can do it!!!!! You are so close to finishing!!!!

errrr i am kind of confused with foreign exchange my far fam –

as per my logic IF US Dollar is strong , there is gain in foreign exchange transaction if you buy from foriegn country . For EG

    To buy 250,000 Francs

    10.01.12 :$ 0.20

    12.31.12 :$ 0.19

    02.28.13: $ 0.22

    Yr 2: there is loss of ($0.19-$0.22) =$0.03*250,000= ($7,500)

But in becker MCQ cpa 01284: the answer is $7,500 gain..

@Nam – I know exactly which question you're talking about. The questions tells you that you SELL merchandise to a foreign firm and the payment to you will be in francs.

So, if 1 franc = $0.19 on December 31, Year 1 and 1 franc = $0.22 on payment date, you have a gain.

Think of it like this…you are getting payment of 250,000 francs when the exchange rate is $0.22 for 1 franc. This means you will receive $55,000 (250,000 x $0.22) on payment. However, let's say the payment was due at December 31, Year 1, you would have only received $47,500 (250,000 x $0.19).

So, in essence, you are receiving $7,500 MORE in payment and thus, you have a gain of that amount. I hope that makes sense.

    Yo Far Family!!!

Well, today is the day I was originally scheduled to take the beast. Glad I didn't – still got a lot of work to do.

It was beautiful here in CA today (sorry Nemo sufferers!) so I sat on my porch and reworked all the end of chapter 7 questions and made detailed notes and let me just say…since then I feel WAY more comfortable doing MCQ.

Still plugging away, want to do finish up EPS and Equity before conquering NFP and Govt.

A word of advice, if you are stuggling do each end of chapter question and sim example! It helped tremendously! I am def doing this in my final review.

    Thanks so much @ PEETREE, @CLKT & @JOCH0803.

Started taking small steps and started studying…Hopefully over next week I will pick up pace. I've always hated FAR and that is making it worse. I've always been an audit person and did great in Audit in school but never in FAR. I barely studied for 2 weeks for my AUD section and passed πŸ™‚ i Studied for 2 months for FAR and still failed ….so i am finding it difficult to motivate myself. But, like u all said…baby steps πŸ™‚

Nice to see a forum like this.

    Thanks again!
