Haven't posted in a while, i have been trying to focus on studying and can not seem to grasp some of these topics! Present value is always a hard one for me, and bonds is killing me! Trying to spend this week really focusing on my weak areas and then about 10 days of non-stop review…

I am not feeling prepared at all, but really want to get this attempt in this testing window…however at the same time i feel like this is a really negative way to think….just going to try to push through…

How do you guys focus on research questions?

I make sure to do every practice one in Wiley test bank.

When I get one wrong I read the paragraph that had the correct answer and try to find similar words in that paragraph when compared to the question. I start to find patterns and get good at choosing the keywords to search for.

Anyone use the FAR ninja notes? I bought the AUD ninja notes which I thought was pretty good, but I just don't know how helpful it actually was on exam day as I feel the Wiley test bank had more of an effect. Thoughts?

Guys! I need some help on this re-studying. I got a 71 on FAR and I took it Jan. 9th. I think I got distracted with the holidays because I had plenty of time to review, but somehow didn't quite get it all out of the way. So, here's how it went: Started mid November, after I found out I passed BEC, but couldn't decide whether or not to tackle both REG and FAR or just FAR on its own. After reading the 2 first chapters of REG and FAR (using Becker for both), I realized there was no way I could do both in 1.5 months so just decided to go with FAR. Read each chapter (skipped the lectures…they take too much time), did all the MCQ's and SIMS for each, and finally was left with governmental and not-for-profit for the end (F-8 & F-9 – I did F-10 before). By Dec. 20th, I said to myself that by Christmas I would have been finished with the remaining chapters and have another 2 weeks for review. Well..not quite. Since we had a family reunion with kids and people running around the house, I wasn't able to do much and finally had to sit at home and review for a week after New Years to get everything together for the 9th. I was able to redo all MCQs except for those in chapters F8 and F9, but wasn't able to pass. The SIMS got to me…was doing fine in the MCQs (or so I thought) but the SIMS I knew I got all wrong. In the end, I don't know if my method of redoing everything was good, even though I skipped those two chapters. The score sheet showed I was comparable in not for profit but not for government and the sims were weaker too. How should I go about studying for April now? Any ideas? I don't get how some people can still get over 80s, or at least pass when they say they didn't do well in the SIMS or they feel like the test was a total bomb…..sigh…

@Nmbanugo I've been using the ninja notes. I re-wrote them all and have been re-reading them every night before I go to bed. I think its helping pull all the details from the becker lectures together.

Definitely use it as supplemental studying information.

@LSNYC I had the same struggles with bonds in the beginning. I was able to pull it together by writing the full journal entry out for every multiple choice question. I didn't care if it was only asking for the discount. I was going to write out:

Dr. cash

Dr. Discount

or

Cr. Premium

Cr. Bond Payable

Cr. Accrued Interest

Cr. APIC Warrants

I wanted to make sure I understood the structure of the transaction and by writing the entry out in its entirety, it helped me see the bigger picture.

Actually woke up this morning and finished off Financial Instruments. I think it might be my favorite (easiest) chapter! ha!

Plan is to finish F7 tonight and govt/nfp by Saturday, leaving two weeks for review.

PRESSURE! I just want to be DONE with this one, move onto REG and be a free woman by Summertime!

Review plan is multiple comprehensive progress tests, focusing on weakest areas first and then doing mcq and writing ninja until it clicks.

Wish I had to confidence you guys have! Sounds like everyone is gonna kill it. Wish I wouldn't have slacked off so hard….meh.

You already passed 2 parts, so you know what you need to do.

I'm hoping my strategy will pay off once April rolls around – I'm doing deferred taxes today, it's really not too bad. I think my grad program really helped me out with this.

Gonna review notes and get through all of Chapter 6 MCQs today. Let's do this FAR fam!

I had a mini freak out yesterday morning. I am three days behind in my study plan and only 18 days until exam day.

I'm finding it difficult after working 9 hours during the day, to go home and study. I get very ADD after a couple hours.

However, my passing score in REG yesterday has kick started my ambition again.

My plan for tonight is to watch the rest of the Pensions lecture and do the home work. Maybe do the next 2 small videos/homework also.

Finished re-works on the F5 MCQs and SIMS for bonds and leases. Feeling really good on the first half of the book. Going to start re-working F-6 through F-10 tonight through this weekend. Moving right along on schedule here. Gearing up for the 2 practice exams and boat loads of progress tests next week before the exam.
