    @Javajunkie What didn't you study that you wanted to study the first time you took FAR?

    @MCLKT Ooops! Well right on sister lol!

    @MCLKT Did you solely study with Yaeger with the Ninja Notes for audit? I think Gary is a very good professor however people are complaining about him. What do you think of him?

    Nam, I can't stop thinking about it. A 97, unbelievable. I didn't study last night because I was too anxious (read: wine, lol), so tonight… it's back to the books. But I will be completely unproductive at work. I just keep wandering around A71 and reading everyone's journey.

    Touche Peetree! I will answer to the bro term of endearment unoffended πŸ™‚ but I'll update my avatar nonetheless.

    CAP1 – I like Gary. But he is monotone and slow, so to make it interesting I use a VLC player and playback at 1.5 speed. He sounds more like a chipmunk and gets the point a lot quicker πŸ™‚ Yep I used Yaeger, Wiley testbank, Ninja notes/audio…. some cpaforfree.com (but use this only after you have mastered the material, because there have been known errors).

    I also googled some of the most popular mnemonics to add to my studies.

    MCLKT: If I were you , I would be showing off my 97 marks to everyone even to the strangers on the street . I would be jumping around. Darn! You are good ..

    But ya taking one day off form FAR preparation is like starting from scratch.. SO lets stay focus and you can celebrate another 97 in FAR around march 11.. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

    So howz your prepration going on ?

    BTW- love your profile pic..

    @nam isn't that the truth. I need to look at it every day! I put my re-written ninja notes next to my bed and am reading them before I fall asleep.

    @mclkt I would get a “97” tattoo if I were you

    …can I still keep my prehistoric bird as my pic?

    And just when I thought the journal entires couldn't get more complex than bonds, I stumble upon pension journal entries.

    Man, these are tough to nail down.

    @CPA1 – there should be a mp4 or flv file on the usb, this is the one you open with VLC. Don't play the html file πŸ™‚ I don't have the dvds.

    97 tatoo!!

    Thanks Nam! I don't even know what my plan is right now. I feel soooo off track. Gotta refocus on FAR.

    What to do? What to do?

    22 days to go.

    @lbi SIRAGE SIRAGE!!!!!

    Just keep, keep, keep pushing through that lecture until you reach the last section. Its the example where big tim says it will tie it all together. (it really does) Take a page out of your notebook and bridge the gap from your net pension assets from year 1 to year 2. Write out your components of SIRAGE and how they relate to your:

    Beginning assets,

    + contributions

    -benefits paid

    -+ returns

    Ending Assets

    I felt so lost when initially doing that section because you feel like you're getting it in a bunch of parts and you can't see the big picture.

    Bridge that gap with the big picture of how SIRAGE relates to your balance sheet change and you should feel a little more comfortable.

    Also, there is a great sim in that section that allows you to do the same thing only with different numbers. I promise you it comes together and it isn't as daunting as it seems. I thought I was going to bomb the homework on that section and I actually got an 82% first run through. If I can do it, you can certainly do it.

    SIRAGE is definitely helpful to think about. What really trips me up is the journal entries when it comes to a pension gain or a pension loss. The OCI accounts are throwing me off.

    I got through the homework first time around and did poorly (low 70s). I realized my stupid mistakes and now I'm finally starting to understand everything. I tend to treat the first wave of MCQs as a learning experience, not like a test. This is what I did with bonds and it REALLY helped me understand and nail down the concepts.

    I got through the first 2 sims without any problems actually, I'm shocked!

    Yup, that is exactly how I treated the homework. I'm now going back and reworking them all and you'll be shocked at how much you retained from just learning from your mistakes. (I promise you, you will not remember any of the answers to these questions, but you will remember the style of question and how its asking it)

    Nice job on the sims! you're gonna be golden come Q2.

    @joch0803 I hear ya Joch. Just keep doing the progress tests after every chapter. It helps keep some of that knowledge from previous chapters in your head.
