    Thanks bnrhilton!

On page 18 about 3/4 of the way down. Part of my post states:

The Journal Entry to book Pension Expense once calculated is a debit to expense and a credit to cash paid. You plug any difference to OCI. I don't think the difference goes against the liability, as the liability should equal the PBO. (but someone out there may want to double check that.)

    Should read:

The Journal Entry to book Pension Expense once calculated is a debit Debit Pension Expense and CR Accr. Pension liability.

Once the entry is made to the books you compare the book balance of Accrued Pension Liability to the Actuary number for Pension Benefit Obligation. THIS is where the entry to OCI comes in.

You must true the books up to match PBO. DR/CR Accrued Pension Liability and offset to OCI.

Ugg, How I hate F-2. A lot of the MCQ's weren't even mentioned in the book or lecture. Even though I'm not where I want to be with the chapter (scoring 65-75%), today is the last day before F-3. I'm just going to have to make sure I do a lot of review on F-2 during the review weeks.

Question for the FAR folks – I know there's no perfect plan as everyone is different, but feedback would be much appreciated. As you all very well know, there is a ton of material. I'm using Becker and these chapters can take a LOT of time if you really work through all of the HW and SIMS, etc.

Right now, I am trying to get through the material (chapters 1-10) at a pretty basic level. Some areas come more naturally than the others, but overall I'd say I'm covering it at about a 60% level the first time through. I could slow down, but that would basically leave me with almost zero review time. So, I'm sticking with the “60% pass through” and leaving myself with 2 weeks to seriously capitalize/memorize info. Some areas need to be revisited in a serious manner.

    Any thoughts?

Nashville – my first go at FAR I worked through very thoroughly and reviewed about a week I think. This time around, I'm doing a first run like you are (60% or so) and reserving 3 weeks for review. I really think the constant MCQs is where the info starts to click and really sink in.

Plus, it's the best practice for getting used to the wording of questions and “knowing” what they are looking for. Basically, I think the practice exams are a lesson in translating Exam lingo 🙂

Hey Hey Hey Hey my beautiful FAR family!!!

It's been a while but I'm here to report good news! I have completed my notes for all 10 chapters of FAR and I am officially in Final Review mode 🙂 For me that means 1) go through notes and make FCs along the way as I read through them, 2) go through FCs over and over and 3)do all MCQs and Sims all over again

Wooo Hooo I am on schedule and ready to kill FAR come Feb. 16th

    Happy studying everyone!!! God bless!

Good job! Looks like you are doing well…

I am still struggling with bonds. It was hard to find motivation yesterday. I probably got about 5 hours in all weekend.

    MUST. CONTINUE.

Dumb question: can we use ctrl+F on the exam when searching the authoritative literature?

    F - 86
    R - 90
    A - 97
    B - 91

@MCLKT appreciate the thoughts. I agree – nothing really clicks until I start working the MCQ.

I know the idea is to work as many MCQ as possible, but I get a lot more out of slowing WAY down on the MCQ. Working 20 questions extremely slow and writing it out is way more effective for the first pass through. Only thing that worries me at this stage is my 2 1/2 week review is unfortunately going to still require a good amount of “learning” in a few areas. Just trying to weigh where to spend my time. Exam in one month and I've gone through Becker chapters 1-6 at the ~60% level. If anyone has any words of wisdom, I'm all ears.

I don't think we're able to use ctrl+F on the exam…I actually tried doing that once.

Anyways, after struggling with bond liabilities and conversion questions, I finally understood it when I quickly glanced over the journal entries. Feel like I accomplished something big today. FAR, you're going down. 😀

Hey FAR Fam, Last weekend was meant to be productive until I was struck by this epidemic called FLU going around , though I took the FLU shot but all to no avail, and since my wife is pregnant, I have been avoiding any contact with her & the baby.

well, I was successful, feel better now and looking forward to a productive week. I need to keep taking my dayquil in the day and night quil in the night. Just like i am planning to crush FAR so also I need to crush this FLU..

Anytime you fill like your case is extreme.. Think about these set of pple.

Yemdross – thanks for the motivation. I really needed that right now. I am starting to freak out. I have 2 weeks before my exam. I am 3/4 of the way through the MCQs for the 2nd time. I am hoping to finish the other 1/4 by the end of this week. Which leaves me a week to either rewrite my notes (I've already done this once), practice sims, or just keep doing progress tests. I am getting 80-85% on my MCQs this second time, but when I do progress tests I am only scoring in the high 70s, which worries me. AHH I have been studying for a year now and haven't passed anything yet. I need to pass this exam! Ok rant over.

    Hello Everyone,

I'm signed up to take FAR May 6. This will be a retake from when I failed a couple of years ago. Sad to say, I failed both FAR and AUD a couple of years ago and just got discouraged and let time pass without doing anything about it. Not this time! This is something I have to do and would love y'all's support. I work full-time, have a wife and baby, and am using Yaeger and the Wiley test bank. Any advice?
