    Hi Everyone!

I'm taking FAR for the second time in a little less than a month. So far, I have just been spending 2-3 days retaking notes on each Becker chapter and then doing some practice questions.

Can anyone recommend a good hardcopy book of strictly FAR practice questions?

    Thanks and good luck!! 🙂

    AUD - 69, 82
    BEC - 73, 79
    FAR - 69, 75
    REG - 67, 78

    FOREVER FINISHED!!

LOL What do you mean by revise? I am JUST now going through the MCQ on becker my first time….and only on Chapter 5 and ending up cutting a lot of MCQ out just to move through the material.

I am seriously considering a reschedule for the last week of FEB. At this point, $35 and two and a half more weeks outweighs the cost of paying for the exam again and delaying my freedom for another month or so.

I just do not feel confident AT ALL and sooooo pressed for time. BUT….I…MUST….PASS….

On the other hand, it sounds like all of you are doing great! Good job family!

    B 71 - 79 EXPIRED
    A 69 - 75 EXPIRED
    R 65 - 48 - 45
    F 56 - 61 - 65 - 64

Still need 30 more credits, in basket weaving (gotta love new CA requirements)

@hustin: Are you taking the exam on feb 9th?

I would say reschedule it and give yourself extra two weeks . Personal experience – don’t rush with those MCQs.. FAR can be tricky because it has so much material to remember .. I might reschedule FAR , let’s see by end of this month.

It’s better to understand the concept and at least do those mcqs twice!!

Darn! I WAS BLANK in my last attempt , I couldn’t belive I forgot pensions and was not able to remember during my exam..

We got to pass this FAR – you are so close !!

WOOHOO!!! I love my job! My boss is letting me take two hours during the day from now until test time to go hide out in a study room at the Library down the street to study (his idea, too many distractions at work) . My hopefully last exam is Feb 22 and I absolutely have to end this torture and get my FAR credit back! I am kicking it into NINJA MODE!

    I took FAR on Friday.

FAR is my second exam section to take. I passed REG, now I am just waiting on my FAR score.

The test always seems weird to me. I feel like Becker makes you feel like the CPA exam will be worded extremely difficult and that there will be several “tricks” thrown at you. There were a few “trick” questions, but they are nothing compared to Becker. I always feel like the CPA exam questions are somewhat easier, but easier in a weird way. By weird I mean, they are easy to a point you start to second guess yourself. Like… why does this question seem so easy? Am I missing something?

My simulations were rough. Save yourself some time to work the simulations. I gave myself almost two hours to complete the simulations and I still was a little worried.

REG(10/23/12)- Passed. Life happended and lost credit - 18 month expiration)(Retake soon)
    FAR - Passed. Used Becker.
AUD - Passed. Used CPAExcel (now Wiley)
    BEC- Plan to take October-ish.

    Just give me a 75!

Thanks for the feedback. I am taking FAR on Friday, and just hope I can be calm enough and confident enough that I am answering the question correctly. I have a tendency to overthink things sometimes or make it more complicated than it needs to be! So I am focusing on the main topics, formulas, journal entries so I don't clutter up my brain 🙂

Hope you get a great score, and if not great, at least a 75 🙂

    Wish me luck on Friday!

Got through Becker F1 last week and besides all of the disclosures, it wasn't that bad. Just started F2 yesterday and finished with the lecture today and I don't remember anything. As soon as one part of the lecture was over, it was like I didn't even watch it. Hopefully, some of the stuff will sink in once I read the chapter very slowly tonight. Anyone else have problem's with F2?

@bryndafowler looks like we are pretty much on the same page for everything. Hopefully we will both be on the other side of this exam come the end of May!

Wow. 5 weeks from today i will take this exam. This is my first attempt and i feel way in over my head. I know this is a common feeling, especially for this exam, but man; this is some serious information overload. I realize that the key is to know a little about a lot but theres just so much stuff i dont feel comfortable if dont fully understand a concept. Im about half way through the material and still trying to figure out the best approach. Im taking a weekly review class that has supplied me with review notes and video lectures. I take pretty good notes during the class and lectures. I also supplemented my studying with Gliem practice questions. I think above all, doing the practice questions is KEY. You can know your notes backwards and forwards but if your cant apply the info to the questions come exam time, your done. Each night I usually do a quick review of topic reviewed in class and then go right into practice questions. I'll go through them all and record and redo the ones i get wrong. I was really hoping to pass this one on the first try but its tooooooough.

    FAR- PASSED (11/13)
    REG- PASSED (2/14)
    BEC- PASSED (5/14)
    AUD- PASSED (8/14)

If it's important to you, you will find a way. If it isn't, you will find an excuse.

Hi FAR FAM, just finished F3 and already did progress report. I am happy, I am getting comfortable with the Material again and understanding the concepts & tricks of FAR.

My plan tonight is to review the notes I wrote down for chap 1-3, review all the missed questions & all the passkeys caption that I copied in my FAR lecture.

Stay thirsty & hungry for FAR, we shall overcome!

@Jamesb, just finished F3, let me know if I can be of any help. This was the exact chapter that killed me during my FAR first attempt. I got a question that looked like conslidation but was not, the examiner prepared the SIMs as just filling the gaps but it was not consolidation question, it was rather equity but I took the bait and treated it as consilidation.

    Remember:

0-20%-Cost method (If there is significant control, you may use equity method) (Do not consolidate)

21-50%- Equity method (Do not consolidate)

    Over 50%- Consolidate

I am using becker, if you are calculating your goodwill and the question did not specify or indicate IFRS, please use the CARINBIG pneumonic, from there you already calculate your NCI so the only formula to memorize is for IFRS goodwill & NCI

2014 experience..No more excuse, this is it!
    I CAN'T KEEP CALM UNTIL I BECOME A CPA
