MCLKTParticipant“The Pomodoro technique is based on chunks of 25 minutes (=1 Pomodoro), which you devote to a specific task. Once you complete the 25 min. Pomodoro, you take a small 5-minute break. And when you complete four Pomodoros in a row, you take a longer break.”
I use the Pomodairo app to keep me on track and help me break down the beast into 25 min. manageable goals.
https://pomodairo.en.softonic.com/
I take a topic and estimate how long it will take me to cover. (Inventory review 1.5 hours lecture/notes = 3 pomodoros).
If I finish the topic with time to spare in that Pomodoro, then I review until the timer sounds.
Then the second part of the same topic Inventory questions 1 hour (2 pomodoros).
If it takes me longer to than the estimated Pomodoros to get through a task, the app allows you to add as you go.
I add these tasks into the app and start the timer.
Force myself to take a 5 minute break when required.
During the breaks I may check the forum or grab a bite to eat. Maybe do jumping jacks or answer texts.
The key is to focus hard core for those 25 min. with NO distractions.
Then use the timed breaks to do all the little stuff that gets you off track. But when the allotted time is up, and the alarm sounds, get back to the task at hand.
This allows you to focus and retain info. But also gives your brain a break.
I HIGHLY recommend it.

AnonymousInactive@mclkt, I haven't tried the pomodoro app you are using but I do have one on my droid phone and another on my ipad and use them when studying. I may have to check that one out.

MCLKTParticipantToday's assignment: Inventory, Error Corrections, Acct'ing changes, Income Cont. Ops, Extraordinary Gains, Fair value measures, and other Comprehensive Basic Accting.
Yep… another late night.
I'm with you on celebrating MLK! I'm off tomorrow and have 11 hours planned to study. But, I think some of today's questions will roll over tomorrow.
The big picture is to finish the Cram on Sat. Take a Practice exam Sunday and review weak areas. Then begin Rewriting my notes next Monday.
Positive Affirmations:
I love FAR. I love FAR. I love FAR. I love FAR. I love FAR. I love FAR. I love FAR. I love FAR. I love FAR. I love FAR. I love FAR. I love FAR.

TncincyParticipantpomodoro sounds like something that will help to focus so no time is wasted wandering around a topic and doing mcq's trying to decide if a the concepts are strong. I'm going to try to this technique.
It begins with a 75

AnonymousInactiveHey MCLKT, Yes I think few topics take more than you expect, as far as you understand the concept.–> Its good !!
I can’t believe I forgot so many topics which I revised 1 week ago. So I stopped and started revising the chapters . My target is to finish making notes and doing all mcqs for chapters which I have already done.
So end of this weekend I ‘ll be left with 4 chapters , in which I am a bit comfortable ( but who knows what I remembered) lol anyway I want to make sure I learn th information and remember it before I start new topic.
Today’s mission – finish Intercompany subtopic and start chapter 7 (at least finish 60% of ch 7 ) so tonight gona be late night!! I will star studying aroud 7pm ..
Good luck FAR fam!! Hang in there – we can beat this FAR!!
xxxxxxx

HustlinHustlinMemberDamn it, these Niners are really making studying difficult…
Didn't get a damn thing done yesterday. I have to finish the rest of the chapters (4 more chapters and 5 if I come back to matching) if I want 2 weeks for review.
I am not comfortable AT ALL!!

MCLKTParticipantNam- Thanks for saying something. I think I have been trying to rush though it. Probably a big mistake. But in my mind, I scored a 74 and ran out of time (All zeros in 3 sims!!!). I feel comfortable with most of the material so I tell myself I know this stuff, I got this… But I have read on this forum that if you have to retake an exam you should study like it's your first time.
So… thanks! I have 5.5 weeks until test day. That's plenty of time to work through all of the problems as I go, instead of just a light review. I just rearranged my schedule and I feel very good about it. Going to work the questions from yesterday's review now… Then Inventory and maybe Pensions tonight.
🙂

@Hustlin – ask yourself this. On Score Release Day – how much will you be thinking about the 49ers? Will they be thinking about you? Pass the exams now so in the fall you can enjoy the entire season!!! -I say this in a tough love motivating way 🙂

LSNYCMemberI feel like I've been MIA for a while and just caught up on most of the progress going on here. You all motivate me! Motivation is something I've been lacking big time. Luckily sometime on Sunday while studying I got a huge surge of motivation, just about over a month of study time left for me… I am determined to give this everything I've got.
A - 61, 91!!
B - 78!
F - 76!!!
R - 71, 73, 74, 69, 77!!!!Finally done!
This is my 2nd attempt at the exam, I had two parts passed (failed many) and I stupidly quit, big mistake. Now I'm back and with a vengeance!
