Yes Bluegirl! Do you fish for bluefin too? LOL

Thats how I ended up here, I have a very expensive fishing habit to support.

@BluefinCPA ha, ha no bluefin for me, some fly fishing though . . .

FYI “Oh that CPA exam….piece of cake.” A classmate of mine was hired by Big 4. At a firm event he said the CPA exam was the easiest thing he's encountered so far. Easier than school or work. At first it made me feel like an idiot, but looking back he must have been bragging. (For the record he was a blowhard jerk)

I have a friend who is extremely intelligent and a better test taker. He passed all four in one shot back in the day when you had to take all 4 parts at once. He studied for 1 week before taking it. I wanted to punch him. LOL.

My friend did not brag though. He just took it all in stride. He worked for EY for a better part of a decade. Quit before becoming partner and went into forensic accounting. He has done very well for himself, but will always avoid and conversation that might lead him to bragging. In fact, he did not even tell anyone he passed because he did not want to make anyone feel bad.

Well, less than 3 days away from when I'm sitting. Going through Becker chapter by chapter trying to figure this stuff out again. I just finished F6 in my review and its definitely making more sense than the first time. I'm just starting to realize that the amount of information in FAR really is crazy ha. I can answer multiple choice questions, but I couldn't tell you the rules behind anything for the life of me. I guess all that matters is that I can do alright on the questions, right?

Any words of advice for the last few days? This is the plan:

Tonight – half of F7 including MCQ

    Tomorrow – other half of F7, F8

Wednesday – F9, F10 quick (probably no/minimal MCQ), and the 2nd Becker Final Exam

Thursday – Cram as much as I don't feel comfortable with into my head and spit it back out onto the dry erase board at the test center when I get there.

I know cramming on test day isn't advisable, but I feel that it will benefit me because that's just always tended to be my style and it always works out well.

    @soxfan866:

I like to review any charts that compare IFRS vs. GAAP and charts regarding topics i've struggled with…I also go over mnemonics

Haha @ Nam! I just started F8, you should have seen the disgust on my face.

Had to cut F7 short during Cash Flows. I will go back over my lecture notes in the book when I rewrite notes and do MCQ anyway. It's time to “cut the fat” and make sure I touch on everything.

Nam – how many hours do you usually sleep? You're always up so late. I can't function like that. Once I am sleepy, I am useless.

    Good mornin folks!

Here's my plan for today: (btw, i'm working backwards from F10 on)

    – finish F9 sims and skim through NFP stuff once again

    – read through my notes on F8 and go through samplings of MCQs

    – go through F8 sims

    – write F7 notes

    …ready, steady, GO!

@hustin: even though i am a morning person, I just cannot study in the morning. I tried so many times and always end up sleeping.

as soon i come home, i give myself 10 mins to relax and start listening to lectures, then take 20 mins break for dinner. and after dinner i feel so sleepy zzz……. then I need my best friend caffeine, which helps me to be up till 12 am to 1 max.

Somehow this techniique works for me .

Today 50 mcqs and listen to working capital lecture.

    LEts go FAR fam..

    Hey Nam,

I'm still waiting to pay for the exam and to get the NTS, but I plan on taking it either the 26th of this month or sometime in early Feb.

Definitely will go over the IFRS differences. I think I have the major ones down for the most part, but there are a lot of finer details that are easy to forget. The mnemonics are definitely really helpful, just gotta remember how to calculate all the things for SIRAGE and CARINBIG ha.

Hoping I can pull off 75+ on the second final exam. Been doing 30 question progress tests every day and haven't gotten below an 80, though I know for a fact I'm starting to memorize the questions. Has anyone taken the second Becker exam? If so, what did you think? Harder/easier than the first?

@Nam – I definitely hear you on not being a morning person this morning. I AM SO TIRED. I studied from 5:30-6:30 and napped for the last half hour. Even coffee couldn't help.

Plan today is to finish 1.5 hours of lecture from Government and 3 hours on NFP.

I'm kind of starting to worry since everyone who is taking the exam after me is already way ahead and I feel like there are so many more topics I need to solidify.
