One week from today I will be taking this exam and man am I overwhelmed still. I got most of the chapters in Becker down except for F5 the bonds and pensions are killing me. I plan on taking the first practice exam tomorrow morning and am going to read through F5 again today and bang out one more 100 practice quiz. I haven't done any of the practice SIMS yet I am going to work through those this week since I have tuesday and friday off work. I just hope I know enough to get my 75 and move on to the last section.

I wish everyone luck and I hope I figure out F5 soon because the MCQ's are just killing me in Becker if anyone has any ideas how to understand it better please let me know.

    AUD - 08/20/12 - 82
    REG - 10/30/12 - 82
    FAR - 01/05/13 - 80
    BEC - 04/15/13 - 84

@kts1010…Pensions are killing me too. At this point, I am just memorizing JE, because I dont understand the concept behind it.

F5 is kind of easy for me..What is that you find hard about F5? (JE, amortization. etc..)

I don't think I'll take the practice tests. They're so much harder than the real thing. Also, I have a hard enough time as it is with the normal homework questions for Becker. Why shatter my confidence by getting a 35 on the practice test?

I know the reasoning will be to know my weaker areas, but I feel I'm weak just about everywhere anyways.

Also, I did take both practice tests for AUD and still failed twice, and I didn;t take any for BEC and passed.

I'm just redoing homework questions and especially focusing on the ones that say AICPA released or adapted

    @DavidB

I see what you mean and I completely understand. Keep doing the HW questions and read the right answer and the wrong answer for the ones you miss so you dont make the same mistakes. Sometimes I keep getting the same ones wrong, so I'll write down the solution and try my best to understand it. This helps. God luck. I'm here, will be up all night studying again. Its just quiet and I can get the most work done when everyone is asleep.

Well, I got a little derailed due to a bout with the flu this past week. But I am over that hurdle and back to the books. I only had the week off, while I laid in bed recouping, but it feels like its been months since I studied, and its like I have to totally regroup on the concept of studying again. Yuck!

Crazy how fast that mental roadblock can go up.

    AUD 7/30/12 73; 12/2/13 85
    BEC 7/19/13 81
    REG 8/2/14 83

Took the first practice exam in the Becker 2013 software this morning. These were the results:

    Testlet 1 – 25/30 (83%)

    Testlet 2 – 21/30 (70%)

    Testlet 3 – 26/30 (86%)

    Simulations

    Accounting Changes – 87%

    Nonmonetary Exchanges – 83%

    A/R and Allowances – 100%

    Earnings per Share – 100%

    Recording Lease – 64%

    Reporting (Pensions) – 87%

    Research – 0%

Since I haven't actually taken any of the exams yet, I really have no idea what to make of it. The difficulty of the exam seemed to be slightly easier than the homework. From what I've read here it seems as though I should be satisfied with these results and I definitely am. However, not getting the research did sting a bit. Has anyone else taken this? What did you think?

I feel like I am in way over my head when I am studying for FAR. I read the questions and I start to freak out a little. I am hoping this is just a temporary road block and if i keep pushing through I will be ok. I am about half done with all of the lectures behind schedule, but getting there. I am hoping i can concentrate on MCQ soon and maybe that will help, but I find myself not being able to concentrate when I am going through the questions.

    A - 61, 91!!
    B - 78!
    F - 76!!!
    R - 71, 73, 74, 69, 77!!!!

    Finally done!

This is my 2nd attempt at the exam, I had two parts passed (failed many) and I stupidly quit, big mistake. Now I'm back and with a vengeance!

@LSnyc- im in the same boat!.. so hard to focus on these long questions!! ugh cant wait to get this over with!….. i think that FAR is just so much info. with AUD and BEC i was all about getting through the lectures and questions and then review after i finished all the chapters but i feel like with FAR i have to review after 3 chapters or im gona forget and loose the info. I think theres just a lot of info and have to change my studying format to make it work.

@CPAwanabe I agree the question length kills me! I am thinking i may change-up my method a little also. I have been trying t wait to review, but I think you are right i forget everything i have learned so far if I don't review after every chapter! I am starting to worry I wont be ready by exam day… and i still have 5 weeks to go!

    A - 61, 91!!
    B - 78!
    F - 76!!!
    R - 71, 73, 74, 69, 77!!!!

    Finally done!

I want to thank everyone for sharing your advice with the FAR prep. It’s nice to know I’m not alone in this. My exam is scheduled for Thursday 1/3/12. I plan on taking the final two Becker exams and resting Wednesday. Not an ideal way to start the new year but…

At this point, I’ve given it my all and leave the rest to fate. Best of luck to each of you on your upcoming exam…

@soxfan866..I think you exam results show you are ready for the exam…I NEVER get the research question correctly either.

I havent taken FAR yet, but based on my previous experience with BEC & REG…you scores are strong.

@dah…thats what I usually do, take a break day before exam, unlike those folks, who try to cram everything on the last minute. I like your attitude, on how you did the best you can….GOOD LUCK.
