splinter1643Member@CPAwannabe: Depends on the question. Easier questions that you can pick up on very quickly go by pretty fast. If it's on a topic that's hard for me, though, just getting through even 10 questions can be a struggle.

KatydidMemberT-21 days. FARs questions seem to be more time consuming than the previous exams. I usually guesstimate about 2 minutes per question, so 90 questions would take about 3 hours. Which is actually way too long per question . . . that would mean I would only have 1 hour to do the Sims. . . crap . . . I'm gonna have to quicken the pace. Let's work backwords . . 4 hours for the entire test, 1.5 hours for sims leaves 2.5 hours for questions, that's a little over 1.5 minutes per question.

LSNYCMemberSo much info in FAR, and I am feeling very overwhelmed, i am not sure why I am feeling more overwhelmed with the test than the others but I am. When I am overwhelmed I am not very motivated. I am trying to push through but I am really lacking motivation the last few days.
A - 61, 91!!
B - 78!
F - 76!!!
R - 71, 73, 74, 69, 77!!!!Finally done!
This is my 2nd attempt at the exam, I had two parts passed (failed many) and I stupidly quit, big mistake. Now I'm back and with a vengeance!

occams_razorParticipantAlright guys, call to arms here, need some serious advice. I am taking FAR for the first time two weeks from tomorrow. I have made it through 6 of Becker's 10 chapters, and have not watched any of the lectures in 7-10. I am told chapter 8 and 9 (Governmental and Not for Profit) are essentially the same thing. How should I approach the next two weeks of review? watch the lectures, take the notes and hope something sticks? just do a ton of multiple choice questions? start preparing for when I take the test a second time?
Additional info:
Can't reschedule the test because my busy season is set to start after I take the test.
The busy season will last until March, work will not be as busy as it was but still difficult to study before, during and after work.
The NTS runs out April 24th.
If I were to reschedule to a date before then, it would actually be worse for me due to not being able to study for 3 months, losing a vast majority of the knowledge I have obtained thus far.
How can I maximize my efficiency time over the next two weeks?
AUD - 79!
REG - (67,69-without NINJA and Wiley Test Bank) 84!(with NINJA and Wiley Test Bank)
FAR - 75!
BEC - 83!
Every test I passed, I used Ninja Notes. Couldn't have done it without them!
I am done!!!December 25, 2012 at 7:34 pm #399434
AnonymousInactiveThe hardest part is remembering what I already learned. I'm finishing F9 today, but hell if I actually remember chapters 2-7…
I feel like I'm done for. And the SIMS are impossibly hard… Wonder if I even have a shot at this point.
I'm then restudying for AUD (1 week cram) before busy season starts to see if I can finally pass it.
I dont know about anyone else, but when I do the homework for FAR, most of the time I'm getting 50s and 60s.
It's such a bad feeling, considering for audit I had 75 and over on all the homeworks… UGH

AnonymousInactive@occams It is absolutely essential that you get through the governmental and NFP chapters in Becker. Those sections are highly tested on the exam. Other than that and due to the short time frame you are in, just hammer out as many MC's as you can.
Good luck!

HustlinHustlinMemberHey Nam!
Nice to see you here as well, Nam – though I am sad I don't get to see you finish this exam yet. I know we will get it this round!
I actually haven't scheduled my exam yet. I know some people swear by it and that it makes them push themselves, but I have gone into these exams under prepared too many times in the past. I want to make sure I know I can get a good grasp on it all before I go into battle. I'm looking at Mid-February at the latest. Either way, I know I shouldn't try to fit the two beasts into the same window. Then, in April – IT IS ON REG!
It is crazy to me that I am now half-way there and this is really becoming a reality. I will be a free soul by summertime if it kills me!
I'm happy for myself this morning. I actually got up to do my ELL and got a good hour in. I'm learning that it's okay to slowly push myself to get up earlier and earlier each morning until I am at 5 am instead of jumping into it. (i have a reallyreallyreally comfy bed)
For those of you who work full-time (and more) – I really suggest you look into the Eat That Frog concept of tackling your beast of the day first thing in the morning. It has changed my study habits ridiculously!

TncincyParticipantGood advice. I am up and studying. I don't have the ell down yet but I know if I'm going to pass I have to study. This time of year is quite and it's snowing so I am taking advantage of all the down time I have. I also agree that sometimes the scheduled date can me a motivator, but I as well have scheduled the test only to cancel because I was not prepared. I took reg 45% through the materials and I vowed I wouldn't do that again just to keep from losing the money. I know we won't feel prepared but that doesn't mean we can't be prepared. So I am making the list and checking it twice before I take FAR. My goal is the end of January and I am pressing and focused.
I hope someone answers your question because there is no way to test these materials. I personally like the ninja notes and audio because they are very topic or section focused. I don't feel like I am wandering all over financial Accounting. If you decide to use the Roger cram give some feed back. Lord, if I spend anymore money I won't have enough to pay for the test.
It begins with a 75
Been here too long as a cheerleader....ready to passDecember 26, 2012 at 7:31 pm #399438
soxfan866MemberThe simulations on the actual exam have to be a lot shorter than Becker, right? Some of them are quite lengthy. I've noticed a lot say that they're “AICPA Adapted”, but those are probably the old ones (since most of the multiple choice come from the late 80s and 90s released questions anyway). Anyone have any insight on this?
