Is it ok to start a FAR Study Group? I retook Audit yesterday and although I don’t have a gut feeling either way if I passed or not, I am going to start on FAR. I am using Becker self-study and purchased the Ninja Notes for FAR.

I am looking forward to reading a/b everyone’s progression. Good Luck!

Hey guys, time to unload to help guide you guys that are taking the exams soon. I really feel indifferent about the entire exam, definitely not as confident as i was after taking audit. On one hand I feel good about my multiple choice but the sims were a total new experience. I'd start with the multiple choice, as long as you do progress tests during your final review, Becker got you. Ofcourse there will be a few questions that kick your butt and you wonder where that came from. The main thing I noticed was my third testlet, I feel like I got about 10-15 questions that were extensively worded, makes you dizzy. But it's all junk u know, it's just they put all the pit falls( mind the dates/time of year). It rained IFRS on me throughout the exam, it wasnt even a joke. You know the major differences between iFrs and GAAP. Know your forms! So like I said the third testlet took me a while, was gonna leve 1hr15 mins for sim. But I had an hour and 1mins, should have listened to Casa more about minding my time it's important.

Now the simulations tore me a new one, the first questions was IFRS, like what the, there wasnt even a single IFRS practice sim on Becker… N the others I just did my best, they brought topics I kind of wrote off. Really winged most of them, I just wish I left more time to do them. I just pray I did enough to get a passing score.

Plan a strategy before the exam, my advice is when u flag questions, let those be the only ones you review before u move on. For some reason, the first n second testlet were going good n I had time that I just quickly reviewed each question. Should have saved that time for sim… Oh well. Now the wait and on to Reg. hope this helps

    Hi everyone,

I am on F8 working through the Governmental Funds. I read the material and answered the MC's scoring a measly 50%. Not acceptable. I thought I understood it and now I'm even more confused.

Does anyone have any tips/advice as to how to go about this subject? I'm going to try to re-read the material again. Re-working the MC's today is basically pointless since I have now memorized the answers (there are only 20 MC's). *sigh**

    I'm so confused.

Allsgood…Cpareviewforfree has 110 governmental questions as well as around 35 Not For Profit. For Governmental as well as everything else learn the journal entries. This will help you understand everything better. Also, I used acronyms for everything. For example Governmental Funds-GSPCD=Governmental, Special Purpose, Permanent, Capital Projects, Debt Service.

I have a quick question regarding the reporting of Comprehensive Income. Correct me if I am wrong but I beleive there are three ways a comprehensive income:

    1) One continuous Financial Statement

    2) Two seperate but consecutive financial statements. Income Statement and Statement of OCI

    3) As part of Stockholders Equity as AOCI

I came across a question in the Gleim that only identified the first two as a acceptable formats.

    FAR- PASSED (11/13)
    REG- PASSED (2/14)
    BEC- PASSED (5/14)
    AUD- PASSED (8/14)

If it's important to you, you will find a way. If it isn't, you will find an excuse.

    Hello FAR people.

I have 3 full days left until the exam. I have been through MCQs about 3 times and did half of CPAforfree.com also did up to 20 progress tests that I passed. Did both of Becker exams. Anyone who has been at this point or who has a knowledge or advice how to prepare without losing anything that I learned/memorized, please let me know.

    Thanks

    @gchantur

Work some SIMS, keep reviewing your notes and answering MC's. Concentrate on the areas where you are having the most difficulty. More MC's will never hurt they only help. Be sure and get plenty of sleep the night before the exam.

    Best of Luck

@allsgood Thanks a lot. I took another becker test and took 78% average on mcq. I felt alright. Missed couple in NFPs so happy to identify an issue and trying to tackle it. Since I have never been to prometric, I would appreciate any tips. do we get pencil or pen or what's the situation? are computers fast and smooth? Thanks guy and good luck to you all. I am with you Qlad! got last 50 hours of grinding before the exam

@gchantur, you get two black pen markers of sort and two yellow note pads that you can write on. You can always ask for more. The computers from my experience for mcq are fast, but during the simulation, the load up to bring up the question can make a few seconds and that's a lil unnerving. You probably need to read the prometric and aicpa bulletins just to familiarize yourself with what to possibly expect. I hope this helps.

I finished my last section last night F9 – Non Profit, thought I understood it until I go to the MC's. Scored a 60%. At this point I really don't have time to listen to the lecture (I skipped it). I have decided to move on re-do the MC's beginning with F1. I do not remember this section at all from the last time I took FAR. That's not good.

Any tips on how to get the Non-Profit straight? I am supplementing with Wylie so this should help me out.

My exam is in 2 weeks and I'm now putting together a final review starting today. Let me know what you think and if I should add/modify anything. I can spend about 3 hours/day on the weekdays studying and as much as possible on the weekends.

Minimum 60 MCQ's/day on weekdays and minimum of 90 MCQ's/day on weekends

Work on 1-2 sims/day just to become more familiar and it helps with journal entries

Review 3 chapters of notes a day (should take an hour)

Review 2 chapters of flashcards a day (can be done periodically during work)

Next week devote an extra hour a day to re-reviewing Becker chapter 8, 9 and 10 because I feel those are my weaker areas.

Becker Progress Test 1 this Sunday

Becker Progress Test 2 next Sunday

I have the day before the exam off. What should I do this day? Also, when I do MCQ's, I do them in study mode where I see the answer after the question. Would it be beneficial to do 10, 20, 30 question progress tests and if so how often?

When working on a Research SIM in Wiley, how do you do the research? When I click on the Authoritative Literature tab, there's nothing there.
