Is it ok to start a FAR Study Group? I retook Audit yesterday and although I don’t have a gut feeling either way if I passed or not, I am going to start on FAR. I am using Becker self-study and purchased the Ninja Notes for FAR.

I am looking forward to reading a/b everyone’s progression. Good Luck!

Working on F8 Governmental Accounting this week and it doesn't seem too bad, but I'm getting tripped up a lot on distinguishing between a Revenue and Other Financing Sources or Expenditures and Other Financing Uses. The Becker book doesn't really explain it sufficiently. Can someone explain this to me?

Becker, Wiley Test Bank, and Ninja 10 Point Combo!

    FAR: 89
    REG: 87
    AUD: 92
    BEC: 75
    Ethics: 90

That's funny. Right after I post my question, I see the Test your might question about Government accounting and expenditures.

@Mia, I'm doing one chapter a week, then giving myself 6 weeks to review. I don't think anyone is going as slow as this. 🙂

F8 is definitely tricky, but it's not too bad once you get the hang of it. Revenue comes from your income taxes, property taxes, fines, etc. Expenditures are your spending – what you are paying for. So, for example, when the general fund purchases a fixed asset, this is an expenditure (NOT a fixed asset). Another example would be when the debt service fund pays bond interest and principal – this is an expenditure.

Other financing sources and uses are your transfers in and out of a particular fund. A prime example here is when the capital projects fund issues bonds and receives cash to fund the construction of a fixed asset (this is an other financing source).

    FAR - 85
    AUD - 99
    REG - 85
    BEC - 10/4/13 (Waiting)

@Mia you're talking about turtle pace. Talk about my pace. One Chapter in 2 weeks! I'm not even kidding. Maybe I became so slow right after my exam and waiting for the score. Just want to unwind before concentrating much. Usually, I finish one chapter in about a week so, we're on the same pace.

    FAR - 92 02/2013
    AUD - 90 05/2013
    REG - 85 10/2013
    BEC - 80 12/2013

    I'M DONE. THANK YOU LORD!

tmturner74… I don't follow Marshall, but I hope you passed AUD anyway! What prometrics site do you use? If you use Charleston, I may have a few questions for you, if you don't mind.

I like the Test Your Might questions (thanks for posting it Jeff). I get about half of them wrong though lol. Oh well, it's good practice.

My goal is to get through two chapters per week (no job, no kids). At that pace, I should finish up with 2 or 3 weeks for final review before my exam date. It's a little difficult to compare paces I think. Some learn faster than others, and some sections may be easier than others depending on the person. Find what works for your learning style, and have a plan leading up to your exam date.
