Is it ok to start a FAR Study Group? I retook Audit yesterday and although I don’t have a gut feeling either way if I passed or not, I am going to start on FAR. I am using Becker self-study and purchased the Ninja Notes for FAR.

I am looking forward to reading a/b everyone’s progression. Good Luck!

@mustpass I've only went through maybe 50 total MCQs and that's only bc the videos of my program worked through some. I did go ahead and push back my test date til May 29 so I can have a little more time. Yes I am probably going to start doing MCQs right away or at least integrate them more with my studies at this point. I was trying to do the NINJA process, but I've found myself taking a week to get through 1.5 chapters of notes & videos. I think I was just writing too much detail in my notes though. Anyways thanks for the suggestions everyone.

    FAR - 44,15,36,37, Retake Feb 2015
    REG - April 2015
    AUD - TBD
    BEC - TBD

@jpCPA the only time i failed a test was when i skipped MCQ's and focused on memorizing formulas and stuff in the book. You should have more than enough time to sit for on the 9th, especially if you're in your 5th week of studying. I started a week ago and im almost through F2 and im sitting on the 10th. Just focus on what's important 🙂

AUD: PASSED [81]; Expired, retaking August 23rd
BEC: PASSED [83]; Expired, retaking July 11th
    REG: PASSED [83]
FAR: FAILED [64]; Retaking May 23rd

@mustpass well I'm not doing Becker it was just too expensive. I'm using Lambers and some other resources that were free. Lambers has 17 chapters and I'm only on chapter 7 now with just notes and videos. I'd rather have a little more study time than not enough and feel rushed at the end and then fail. But thanks for the encouragement. I've also been out of school for over a year and some of this stuff took a little longer to stick like consolidations. Good luck on the 10th!

This is the weirdest thing!! I passed BEC and feel like I should be super motivated to keep on studying, but FAR is killing me!! I am on week 5 of studying and have felt completely behind since the beginning!! Is it just the sheer volume of material?? Has anyone else felt like this? How do you stay motivated to get through all of this??

Hopeful this time around.... Back after a 2 year break!!

    BEC - Feb 2013 78!!
    FAR - May 2013 76!!
    REG - 70! 71! 80!!
    AUD - Oct 2013 79!!

    FINALLY DONE!!

@wendy I feel the same way. I'm so discouraged already with far and I'm only a fourth of the way through my Rogers book! But people pass it so it must be manageable! I just don't know how I'm going to pass it haha.

This is my first post on another71. I hope I'm in the right place. Taking FAR in exactly a week. I've been studying really hard, but I doubt I'll pass. It's too much material. Does anyone know where I can learn more about recording notes receivable? Becker is weak on the review on this topic and there are a lot of questions in the homework. For some reason my old textbook (Kieso) says they should be recorded at net realizable value. Thanks. And good luck to everyone. I hope to be involved on these boards, both for the other tests and for when I retake FAR after I fail.

Wendy, MustPass and Rufus!!!!!!! You can do this!!!!! Don't get discouraged. FAR is a lot of material but like you guys said IT IS passable. Focus on one section at a time.

And article I found says the following..

“How do you eat an elephant? We all know the saying, but we often fail to apply this lesson in our lives. If you view the elephant (CPA exam) as one giant goal that your whole life depends on, you’re setting yourself up for disappointment. Why not enjoy the bites along the way?”

Set mini goals that you can accomplish daily and focus on the task at hand…try not to think about the hours of video you have to get through….tell yourself…let me get through bonds and leases today….master one topic and then move on to the next…Altgough FAR has a lot of material the topics are not covered in great detail…as you get further into the lectures everything will start coming together.

Failing is NOT an option!!!!! Be confident in your abilities!!!! Remember why you want to become a CPA!!!
