Hi All- I am taking FAR on 5/31 and of course very nervous especially after reading everyone's feedback after taking the exam. I really hope everyone did well and gets the magic number of 75%.

Is anyone on here in the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill are of North Carolina? I would love to find a study buddy. I signed up to take Audit on 7/24 b/c I wanted to get another exam under my belt before I get my FAR scores in late August…not feeling confident about FAR

    Thanks!

7% is semi-annual. You have to multiply it by 2 to get the annual rate of 14%

    REG - 55 (2/16) 69 (5/16) Retake(8/16)
    BEC - 71(5/16) Retake (9/16)
    FAR - (8/16)

@dbacpa , thanks for sharing your exam experience. It is heartening to know that it's doable within time limit.
May I request you to share how you solved the long questions in time .Most of the folks expressed their frustrations over too long questions. In last March I couldn't solve the SIMs because they were too long.Like calculating some values under US GAAP then under IFRS and then pass JE.I knew other problems too but couldn't even attempt all questions and that was very frustrating. On my second attempt I have covered all topics of Becker's and know the concepts , made my own notes on all topics but still feel scared just thinking about long SIMs and time constraints.
Any tips would be appreciated .
@Anthony you are also welcome to suggest any tips.

Hi Everyone, I'm usually a silent member of this group but I wanted to share my FAR experience with you guys because hearing others experience on the new format really helped me during the exam.

The most important thing in the new format is time management and I definitely recommend you to keep a good pace or you will run out of time. Don't spend too much time on a question you do not know. The MCQ were similar to the old format and I didn't see no big surprises if you have adequately studied. The areas that have been mentioned in other post as heavily tested was the same in my exam. I think it is to weigh out the complexity of the exam…so they can be some easy questions if you have mastered the topics.

I went into the sims with 2.25 hours remaining and I needed every bit of that time. Now brace yourself…I had 5 DRS sims in my test. They were not complicated but there were a lot of documents to review for each of them and many boxes to fill in. Therefore having enough time to complete them is the key in this area. I went into the last testlet with 45 minutes and to my surprise they were all DRS but I didn't panic. I worked through each one because I knew that I could answer them correctly if I just analyzed the information. The last SIM I had 14 minutes to complete and it had more documents and more blanks to fill out than any other SIM but once I started working it I realized that the answer to many of them was zero because no adjustments were needed. So my advice to you is to read everything…all the documents because they will be key to you answering the questions correctly. The higher order skills is really testing if you can analyze information and make the appropriate adjustments according to that information. Please feel free to ask me any questions. This is my last exam and I'm praying that we all are successful.

MrsTerrell , just 2 questions I have ,please share your skills how you managed so many documents and still you could answer within time factor.
I am asking because most of the folks are giving a very scary picture of DRS and I am not genius hence scared how to handle this long DRS with so many documents. On my parts of efforts I have studied Becker's thrice and still I have no clue how to handle the so many DRS with so many documents.
I will appreciate your suggestions and tips.
How heavily the are testing Consolidations and Govt?
    Any easy sim ?

@wannafree I looked at what they were asking me to analyze and then I went to the related document that pertained to that item. The good thing is the questions in the DRS Sims are relative simple where you simply apply your analytical skills.

I can't give any specifics but I would definitely know Government for the exam.

Most of the Sims were manageable if you can get through all of the documents because that's where your answers lie. I had a Sim on a topic that was not heavily covered in the book and it probably was my most difficult one. It was a JE and I knew all of the accounts associated with it but I wasn't too comfortable with my calculations on it.
