@Cruzer I wish they would let us split screen the same tab. Some of the DRS you have to flip up and down within the tab and that was annoying. I actually hand copied some information from the top part of a tab to compare to the bottom part. That seemed annoying to me because in a work setting I have 2 screens and can pull the information into two separate docs to compare – and I'm NOT under a time constraint 😉 Anyway, I lived through it. Hoping to keep my mind distracted for 2.5 months now.
@fallingfaceup I used the excel function they have on the exam to try and make sure I kept things straight but then realized you can't drag formulas once created one. It was overwhelming seeing all the documents to review but I calmed myself down and read through them to make sure I was understanding everything. Overall I feel like the SIMS will make or break an exam score.
Well it's 50% of your score of course it's going to make or break your score. Hell, when it was at 40% it definitely hurt people who were on the borderline of passing.
@Cruzer , it seems to me that there are at least 3 sets of SIM ,5 DRs,2 DRS and 1 DRS and it's your luck which one u get. When was that deleted post you saw ,I missed it even though I was online.
@Anthony @cruzer I'm hoping so. I got a 73 in first testing window with multiple choice killing me and Sims being “above average” (my strongest). Makes since due to me working in industry. I do better in application than memorization for multiple choice.
It looks like everyone who has posted on here after taking their exam in the past week has gotten 5 DRS's. Maybe that's how the test is set up the last two weeks before the end of Q2.
@fallingfaceup what material did and how much did you cover before sitting? Were the sims for 2017 drastically different than the ones you took on the 2016 FAR exam? thanks
Hi all, hope everyone is studying well! I actually wanted recommendations from you all on the sims. If you've taken the exams in prior windows or even this window – can you help me narrow down to topics which AICPA seems to test most on for sims? So far I'm planning to go through leases, cash flows, and EPS in depth. Which other topics are most likely to have sims for? I know this is a super broad question but would really appreciate recommendations. Since I can't focus on all topics now (too late for that) I want to focus on heavily tested topics.
@fallingfaceup, I took the exam on Wednesday. I thought the MCQs were longer than last time (in bothe testlets) but I am very disappointed because I didn't notice the questions to be harder in the second testlet. Did you?
Also, one of the sims so wired, I am really hoping it was a pretest. Anyway, I didn't manage my time correct. I did 45,45 for the two first testlets but when i got into sims I goy a little off. The last 3 problems were hell and the bigger ones:( I only had 35 minutes left. There is NO WAY I passed:(:(
Good luck to you it sounds you didn't great!!
And I only had 2 DRS:(:( the rest was a joke!! Not enough time to finish them. A lot of resources to look at to. I felt like If I had more time I could do better for sure.
@popitsa No point in trying to decipher AICPA cryptic way in deciding what makes up a hard testlet and what is an medium testlet. What is done is done. All you have left is to wait until August.
