mtaylo24Participant@audarah My first time I studied for 2 months, clearly wasn't enough. I was seriously baffled by the low score. In reality, I knew no inventory, A/R, gov't, NFP, and my sims were ridiculous, I had to do a stupid bank recon and I couldn't balance it to save my life. Didn't even know the difference between the marketable securities. I used Gleim only. It has been about 7 or 8 years since Intermediate I or II and Government, so all of this might as well been written in chinese.
My second time, I was cocky from passing REG, thought the momentum would continue, but I was sadly mistaken. I did do all of the Ninja MCQs and hit review mode, but I was only averaging about a 55, and I barely utilized Gleim, only during my final week. I did know more when I sat the second time, and I honestly didn't think the test was that bad. Again, I was seriously baffled by the 54. The score report didn't help though since I got weaker on everything (again) LOL!
My third time, I studied from December score release to March 10. Unfortunately I juggled BEC the entire window, but it actually gave me more of a push. I had to drop FAR for 3 or 4 days to focus on my BEC retake, and then I went full steam my final week leading into the exam. I did like 8,000 questions in Gleim, 2,700 in Ninja, worked all of the Gleim sims. Read every stinkin letter in text. I made sure to learn the JEs, I wasted an entire Saturday typing any JE from the Gleim book into a word doc. Two weeks before the exam, I kept a word doc open at all times and copied and pasted any wrong answer into the word doc, and then I reviewed those troubled questions my final week leading into my exam. We had a pretty good study group here last window, so that also kept me engaged. I scheduled an 8am exam and pulled an all-nighter, banging Ninja MCQs all night until it was time to go. I knew I didn't know much about pensions and leases tho going into the exam and I still think that was my downfall. Hope this helps.

AnonymousInactiveThank you krstnam and mtaylo for answering. I am leaving no stone unturned this time. I focused on the large areas: bonds, capital leases, statement of flows, gov and nfp. I swear a HUGE portion of my test was nfp, gov, IFRS. I didn't study IFRS. The rest of my exam say the other half of it was ALL on those small sections. Guess what I didn't review because I ran out of time tripping myself up on the bonds, leases and flows (which I seen all but one question in)… all those tiny sections. I seriously mean the entire rest of my test was those small parts.
I know this time I will know foreign currencies, pensions, basic and diluted eps, vie,as I did not know them last time and hello fail.April 18, 2017 at 11:21 am #1534767
mtaylo24ParticipantNo problem! I had the Impairment/IFRS/Gov't/NFP test of death last time as well, fortunately I made it my mission to know those areas prior to sitting, not saying I got them all right. I got stronger on conceptual framework, comparable on NFP, but weaker on Govt (refuse to belive that) and weaker on everything else. I was seriously stumped on N/R, N/P, pensions and leases tho…

AnonymousInactiveI start studying tomorrow but I'm not taking it this time until I'm absolutely ready – even if it's in July with persistent progress tests being utilized

aatouralParticipantDoes anybody have a summary (or know where I can find a summary) for all types of impairments?
@Mscfisher – hang in there. I know the feeling, I found myself like that a week ago. But nobody is gonna help us finish this nightmare without killing ourselves studying. One more month and a half.BEC - PASSED

krstnamParticipant@Mscfisher You got this. You're so close!
I heard somebody on here say this is a marathon, not a sprint. I keep telling myself that when I'm losing motivation. It works maybe 20% of the time LOL. I lose motivation probably twice a week…the struggle's real.

HoldMyBeerCPAParticipantI lose motivation after every MCQ session that is filled government accounting questions. I haven't touched the sims yet, and at this point I don't want to. I'm 11 days out from exam day and truly have no idea how to feel about it. I'm going to pound government accounting and NFP for two more days this week, if it sticks, great, if not then well, I'm not going to let other topics slip away as well.
Best of luck to everyone on this section of the exam. And the rest of the exam for that matter!

IamBlessedParticipantHello All – Now that tax season is over I will begin studying for FAR. I plan to utilize Becker and plow through as many MCQs as I possibly can from now until July. Quite frankly I am little intimidated and would appreciate any insight on tackling this section.
