Long time lurker, first time poster. Took FAR a few days back (first section to attempt) and am not feeling too awesome about it…despite 1.5 months of studying. Time to incorporate some accountability buddies! Misery loves company.

I am noticing a lot of questions repeated on becker 2017 version….for example revenue recognition part 2 i had 4 questions repeated twice

@automn3 I'm using Becker 2017, too. I hope it works! I have no idea what to expect from this new format.

@chynablue the new becker format seems busy and cluttered, and i thinks sometimes they can be vague on their explanation. Do you all think the new format will be that difficult for FAR? This is my second time trying FAR ( first time I wasnt able to stay true to my schedule due to work so we all know what happens when you fall behind with this monster) 🙂

@automn3 hope for the best and prepare for the worst! I know I will be practicing as many sims as I can find. Have you seen the blueprints for the new exam format? It helped me understand why Becker has it split into Remembering, Application, Analysis, and Evaluation levels. https://nasba.org/exams/the-next-version-of-the-cpa-exam/ I have Ninja notes too, to help me review and remember all these topics.

Hard to say, but one thing is for sure, sims are now 50%. It's going to be hard for people to score weaker on sims to pass now because just how evenly it's weighted.

Because of this, I've invested in Gleim now because of how close the sims that they have compared to the actual exam.

@chynablue yup read the blue prints when they came out. I like the “skills” section of becker, long practice questions.


@anthony I have ninja MCQ+ Becker. I think this will be enough? Never tried Gleim- let me know how it is. I will be practicing a lot of SIMs as well.

I get waves of anxiety if im not studying, and i feel like if i dont review constantly i will forget everything ive learned…. and its only week 2 for me ha ha

So let's just say I passed REG and FAR is my only exam left. Is there any point in me taking it in this next testing window, considering I won't get the results back until August anyway? Would it be better to just wait and take it in the quarter of score release?

For those studying while working in public during busy season.. Y'all deserve mad respect! I thought I could get F1 done this week but hardly finished Module 2 in Becker. Time is so limited, seems like 24 isn't even enough. It is so hard to work 12 hours a day and still have the energy to open the stupid book.

What are y'all doing to keep your sanity? I recently started going to the gym again, trying to block out 1 hour of my time just so I dont go crazy over all these deadlines. I know the season is almost over but I feel the stress and I have become lazier and coming up with any excuses I could to not study!
