InactiveWow @cpain2k17 it sounds like you aced the test! 3hrs is incredible. Way to go! I know I got the same SIM as you. Unfortunately for me I had little experience in that area. How many blanks did you leave on it??

Participant@bobbycapsCPA If you're referring to the one that I do at my job, I think there was 3 items on both. So maybe 2 or 3 blanks on both, I can't remember how many lines there were honestly.

Participant@cpa2k17 you finished with an hour left!? That's impressive, good job!! Sounds like you killed it.

ParticipantIt's comments like CPAIN2k17's that give me nightmares while we wait for results to be released… Complete opposite my experience. However– kudos and great job!

InactiveJust left the testing center and boy oh boy was @mtaylo24 right on the length of the sims. MCQ 1 was kinda hard and 2 harder. Very wordy for sure. The first sim had 2 DRS which was fine, SIM2 wasn't that bad 1 drs, j/e and research. SIM #3 made me cry. I had over 30 line items to fill in with calcs. some I left blank. Not sure what to expect. This is way worse than exam I took back in March.
Kinda mentally prepping for a retake. My reg expires 5/31/17, but my state CT will be granting an extension to anyone with credits expiring in Q2-3. My forms are ready to be mailed out. AICPA practice exam online wasn't anything like this one AT ALL.

ParticipantTo clarify– people are saying they had “a lot of DRS.”I've notice that people are using DRS synonymously with sims that have multiple supporting docs to review. Just so we're on the same page, by DRS, are people referring to the sims where you have, say, a memo or letter with multiple choices to replace sentences (DRS as defined by AICPA)? Or are people using DRS synonymously as with those sims that have multiple documents for review that require entries, JEs, etc. etc?

ParticipantI am taking the Becker Fast Pass course. Does anyone have any suggestions on a study plan? What works best? Read, lecture, MCQ? Re-do MCQ right after? Tips please!! I am taking wayyyyy too many notes on my own and it is wasting a lot of my time. They didn't really draw out a plan and I think I am going to fall far behind if I don't set up something stringent and logical. Any recommendations??

ParticipantHey im thinking about taking FAR in July. I just graduated and took an upper level intermediate financial accounting course, so I think knocking out FAR would be easier with the knowledge fresh in my head. I was wondering if I can pass the CPA by just studying the Becker final review book (comes w/ MCQs and TB Simulations) and some Ninja MCQs?

ParticipantThe good the bad and the ugly.
The Good – they didnt sit me in the same chair from the time I prevously failed FAR and REG 😜. All material I had covered and only a couple of questions on one of those mega small topics. I was able to manage time to go thru everything
The Bad – I dont know if is part of the new format but MCQs were not easy hard. It actually was a combination of real tricky questions with joke questions in each testlet. SIMs (sighhh). I was not a 100% sure on any of them but overall I was able to work thru them. Two DRS which were pretty decent (thank god). My resaerch was very vage but didnt take me tonlong using the advanced search feature. The first SIM of all was just a nightmare and the last SIM in the last set as well. Overall there is a gap compared to prior exam.
The ugly – that would be me! 😜 Since my hands sweat when Im nervous and we have pvc and black permanent markets. I left test center with black hands and black face. The clown of the day 🤡.

ParticipantWell. It's finally over. Much luck to all us Q1 FAR takers!!
Time management is almost impossible because of the breakout of testlets. I rushed quickly through the MCQs and I had 2 1/2 hours to go for the last 6 sims. It's frustrating, because I had time left at the end…but whatever.
I lucked out and only got one DRS and it wasn't too bad. I think I passed, it wasn't nearly as hard as I imagined.
Not sure if I feel that way 'cause I aced it (studied every spare moment I had) or if I totally bombed it and that's why it didn't seem excruciating. Lol! We shall see.Come on August… Hurry up!! AUD, you're next!!

ParticipantLooked at the AICPA Sample test last night before the exam today. Noticed one of them was related to Contingencies and note disclosure and I got 2 simulations on that, I am guessing one will be thrown out. Had a good feel on that so hopefully it worked out. Also got a DRS in the last and second to last testlet, one on accounting changes and accounting errors (which I reviewed over again last night, just had a feeling) the other was reviewing a cash flow and adjusting journal entries and then preparing the notes to the financials in the DRS interface. Also had a sim on preparation of a cash flow statement and another sim on reconciling the difference between the book balance and the actual year end inventory count. Another sim was on your standard debits and credits and putting in the correct end of year balances. It seems that they are testing the end all process of public accounting! Which is reconciling ending balances for proper reporting, adequate note disclosures and the final certified financials! Every sim I had to a part of the financial statements in its entirety. I feel like those are the big items you need to focus on while studying because in the end they are going to certify those who in their eyes “protect the public” as preparers. Luckily I work in public and prepare financials on a regular basis otherwise I would have struggled heavily on the SIMS. The first MCQ testlet felt like the most difficult part of the test for me. I don't want to say the second one was easier, but I felt I was more prepared for the line of questions thrown at me in that set. Not going to freak out over that considering the new format puts weight on the sims. Also got some IFRS MCQS so know that as well. This is my last part so hopefully I am done with this process. Good luck to those still working at it.
