Last time I had a situation in AUD , I knew ratio analysis very well but there were so many tabs , going back and forth and I had just 15-20 minutes available and I couldn't finish that question(35%).It was very frustrating experience although I passed.
Chuck Nolad (Tom Hanks} is at the “crossroads of SIMs”
Again Scholars , I have studied the Becker's thoroughly so I feel it does not matter to me from which chapter they ask questions but what matters to me if I would be able to tame the beast in 4 hours.
Some of you have taken the exam and I just have one question to ask ,could you solve a long sim 100% under 35 minutes ? I know YMMV but still trying to develop the plan accordingly.
All who have recently appeared are welcome to comment.really I am not interested to know the topic or questions ,just need plan for time management.Last time failed due to time.
I had earlier compiled some JE from Becker's , just going through them.
@Wannafree – I think that Becker has a better compilation of JEs than the link above somebody posted. Is missing some important issues. Like all the JEs for Installment Method, Long term contracts, pensions, etc. Are you planning on doing more MCQs and/or SIMs today or just review the book. I am trying to see what is the best use of the afternoon I have left.
I am going through my notes as I can put more gas with my own notes .MCQ or SIM will not help me today and it was not planned either.
Thank you as I have compiled the JE of Becker's and surprisingly I am able to review faster.
reading my own notes like Debtors don't use PV for debt reorg only Creditor's and that too at original rates ,that kind of things.
@WannaFree – thanks for sharing. I am reviewing my notes as well (just got phone call from Prometric to remind me of the exam, like if I would forget that ROFL). Anyhow, good luck to us tomorrow
@wannafree…yes you could definitely finish a long SIM in under 35 minutes if it is on a topic you have strong knowledge about. I think too much time is spent on questions that we are not 100% comfortable with. My advice to anyone sitting for this new format is if you don't know the answer or how to solve a MCQ or SIM…don't waste too much time because it could be a pretest item. Please spend your time solving the questions that you really know. That is the strategy that I had going into the exam and it made a difference with me being able to answer all the questions. Set a time that you want to spend on each testlet and do not deviate too much from it. The DRS Sims are really not that complicated…they are just very time consuming because you have to review so many documents to answer the questions.
@Bhavin52 – There is no summary of JEs in Becker's. However each topic is explained with the JEs. The old version did have a summary of IFRS vs GAAP if you can get that to help you summarize. Also, Becker only has a comphrenesive SIMS for LT Contracts JEs, so you would have to go to that SIMs in Chapter 1.
