I need some clarification on whether or not Available for sale securities are classified as an operating activity or an investing activity?

If I am correct, trading securities are in operating activity and AFS are in investing.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

    Thanks in advance.

I think you are right, available- for- sale can be current or non-current, depending on management's intentions. Therefore, they are designated as investing activities while trading securities are short- term and appear directly on the income statement.
