FAR Sims- worth practicing samples?

Does anyone have an opinion regarding the usefulness of going through SIMs ahead of time? I’ve read a lot on here about how horrible the SIMs were on the actual test, and that the practice ones weren’t that good. I took BEC and felt that the SIMs in practice (Wiley) were worth the time, maybe barely, but still worth it.

As I’m 24 hours away from sitting, just trying to budget time- my plan is to cycle and recycle through multiple choice in order to sharpen areas of weakness, which I can go through at an efficient pace. The SIMS, however, seem to take longer but with less gained.

    Thoughts?

I practice some SIMs in my weaker areas because it helps some of the concepts come together for me. I practiced ones that could have more difficult SIMS too like bonds, leases, CF statements. They can be tricky if you are weak in the area. I also watch the Roger videos where he goes through the SIMs. Good luck!

Hank Scorpio (great name choice)- that is a good strategy, re: SIMS help the concepts come together. I think someone in another post referred to those big ticket items as the “meat and potatoes” stuff

AF,,aka Missy Elliott above has it right!

Master the SIMS portion of the AICPA sample test and you should be good.

Like literally, take it over and over until you understand all 5 sims. Given your time constraints that would be best (other than resting…which would maybe be even better)

Thanks for the advice everyone. I didn't end up looking at the AICPA test but am curious what it had on it. In general, though, I'm glad I didn't spend time practicing the SIMS, and instead spent that time understanding the big ticket items in and out. A lot of the MCQ's require somewhat robust efforts, so those were adequate.
