FAR SIMS – DRS?

I have read that DRS FAR SIMS are worth more since the answers must be input – does anyone have any idea of about how many DRS to expect? If there are eight SIMS, with maybe one being a pretest, is it reasonable to think 3 – 4 of the SIMS would be DRS? Thanks for any info.

In my experience, most of the sims will have documents to review. I don't think they are worth more, though, not sure where you read that. I don't think anyone really knows how the individual sims are graded except the people grading them.

Thanks, I had thought there were SIMS that were just problems and then SIMS called DRS SIMS that had many documents.

Per the AICPA blueprints, FAR is 10-20% remembering and understanding, with the remaining questions either application (50-60%) or analysis (25-35%). I think you should expect documents to review on any of the “application” or “analysis” sims. This also seemed consistent with my experience on FAR sims. For sure, I thought FAR sims were the most intimidating of any of the sections.
As for grading, no one outside of the AICPA knows weighting or the intricacies of how sims are scored.

    Cpagoal,
I strongly recommend that you do the SIMs from AICPA website.
I am very happy that I looked at them before my exam.

I also did the SIMS on the AICPA sample test and did not see a similar one on the exam. Also, I don't know how often they update it because it was the same sample test I took back in August, so it wasn't particularly helpful for my retake.
