For those of you who have taken FAR already, without disclosing what any of them were about, are they really THAT bad? I’ve seen quite a few people mention they are awful on the exam. I’m getting anywhere between 70% and 90% of the sims correct in Ninja MCQ (excluding the research sims) and was wondering if that correlates to how I would do on them come Wednesday?

Pray for easier sims. If you have a solid understanding of the concepts on mcqs, that understanding will likely transition into solving sims. Best.

Thank you for your response! Sounds like SIMS are hit/miss for all the exams.

Imagine opening your first sim and it has 4 pages of information to parse through and 30 or more blank cells that need filled in. Have fun.

Sounds like I'd save that one for that and plug zeroes if I ran out of time 🙁

and then on the sim with all those pages of information, you can't even see the entire page without scrolling.

Imagine doing your practice tests with your review course but only being able to see 1/3 of the screen. In order to read “The high temp today was 89 degrees” you have to scroll over to see the 89 degrees. Now, you have to do some accounting work and then put your answer into a blank. BUT you can't see the blank at the same time you see the question. You have to scroll over.

The work itself wasn't that difficult, but being able to see the question and fill in the blanks was.

that doesn't test my ability or knowledge at all. If that was real life, I would print out my pages of high temp weather data and be able to see the entire question/place on the accounting end product I was editing.

I never practiced a FAR sim. I did look at them to gain an understanding though (like two). I did create a spreadsheet based on the one Jeff provided for MCQ trending vs actual. Out of 44 people, people trending over 63 passed except for 2 people. Just something to shoot for.

Here were my NINJA MCQ stats:

    Total Questions Attempted : 3,222
    Avg Score: 64
    Avg Trending:75
    Questions Not Answered Correctly: 510
    Hours:98.2
    ACTUAL SCORE: 81

Oh and if you run out of time. Just put zeros could get partial credit.

I had a much different exam experience than many of you are reporting. I'm not sure now if I had an easy exam, if I really knew my stuff, or if I'm just blissfully ignorant of how ignorant I am. Its probably the third one!

That being said, for my sims… My sims were easy. A few of them were long, but they were easy. Are you watching the Ninja plus videos? The problem type sims on my exam were over material that is very extensively covered on the videos. I watched them roughly 2 times each. Some of them were 3 or 4 viewings, some were just once.

My average and trending scores on ninja MCQ were in the upper 60s. I currently feel like I definitely hit 75 on this one, but December 8th is a long ways away. By then, I'll be convinced I made a 7 on the whole thing.

My FAR Sims were pretty damn hard. MCQ's were SO much easier and thankfully I did well on those. You can never predict what sims you will receive, but I'd hit govt/nfp hard. Goodluck!

@Claudia408 what do you mean how did I score on MCQ and SIMS? On my actual test or practice software?

I took FAR back in February, but I would say think of SIMS as a string of similarly-related MCQ's. Also, read the directions at least 2 times before you start even thinking about the answers – they will bury the most important details in the last paragraph. I would also say that without skimping too much on the MCQ, make sure you leave yourself enough time for the SIMS too. My goal going in was to have 2 hours (I wound up having almost 3). I'm not going to say they were easy but having more time definitely helped me to calm down and attack them one at a time.

Some of the SIMS were poorly worded in my opinion. I found the SIMS to be hard, but I didn't find that they take as much time as some people said. 75 minutes was enough time to finish the SIMS.

I was shocked how little my mcq knowledge helped on SIMS. Be prepared to demonstrate every type of JE. I managed to pass FAR without knowing the JE but it leaves u no room for error. If I had to retest I would have memorized them all. FAR was beyond twice as difficult than any other section for me.
