Hi everyone. Long time lurker here. FAR is my last section and it has been kicking my butt for the better part of a year now. I just got my scores from the Q1 attempt (side note thanks NASBA for stressing me out all weekend with the score release delay) and I went from a 74 to a 72. I have one more chance before I basically lose credit for the other 3 sections. I thought for sure I passed since the questions seemed a lot easier this time around but I ended up doing worse. I’m currently using CPAexcel and it worked wonders on the other 3 sections, but for FAR I’m going nowhere. I’m not sure if it’s because of the format changes from April last year or what. I was thinking of buying the Gleim course and just study that along with cpaexcel for the next 3 months. Is Gleim any good? Any other tips you guys have would be awesome.

    Thanks!

I feel like FAR is the most stressful section due to the amount of materials you have to remember. I used Becker to prep for the 3 sections that i passed and got a 74 on FAR from the most recent score release. this time im adding Ninja MCQs into my review for the re-take. Keep hammering throught it, it will be well worth it at the end

As to Gleim – it's a great review program. Has a huge test bank to practice with.
As for FAR – yep – i hear you. I am bright, motivated, studied hard and still failed FAR – so you are in good company. I lost it on the SIMS – i was NOT prepared for the amount of informational tabs they threw at me. I opened the first SIM – had about 7 informational tabs across the top to go through plus a ton of factual info on the question page. I panicked and never really recovered. In short, I psyched myself out and got beat mentally. That's honest. The subjects tested in MCQ were not hard – but when you leave 1/4 SIMS blank – no way to pass.

I am studying for the retake in 5 weeks. I can barely stomach the thought but what are you going to do? Can't give up now. One thing is for sure – i WILL be prepared for the mental tenacity required to do the SIMS. I will work on them – time myself – and make sure i work enough in the test bank that gives you 4+ info tabs to scroll through. Probably will devise some type of system to work them – i'll post on that separately and get some advice.

Good luck to all of us LOL.

Thanks for your help everyone. I decided to buy Gleim and it seems to be pretty thorough. I've tried Becker in the past and didn't like it. Ninja might be a secondary choice if I run out of practice questions. I was pretty bummed out this past weekend but now I'm pumped as hell to get this done once and for all. Here's hoping for the best and good luck to everyone.
