FAR Review Time Frame

I was hoping to gain some insight before I schedule my FAR exam. I have completed the first 4 sections of the Becker material and I am planning to be done with all of the sections by the end of this month. Then I would review from April 2nd to April 19th and sit for the exam on April 20th.

Is this unrealistic? I work part time (4 hours a day) and if work is slow I study at the office. I study from 7am – 9am and then 1pm until I go to bed (with a break here and there of course)

I would like to sit for the exam because I would like to retake AUD in May and don’t want to start studying for that until I know I can move on from FAR.

Any suggestions or comments are appreciated.

    FAR - 4/20/16 ?

It is not about if you have enough time or not. With your work schedule, you have way more than enough time to pass the exam. The real question you should ask yourself, can you keep the repetition until the exam?

    Hi Bzandi

I am studying for FAR now as well. I am almost done Becker's chapter 2, so I know what you are going through. I don't think having a part-time job is a bad thing because you probably could not study for more than 4-6 hours a day anyway. Do you think you can do the last 6 sections in 2 weeks? I think your review period sounds good.

Why not wait until you are done all 10 sections to better gauge when to write. You never know if you might get sick or have to put studying aside for a few days. If it was in the next 2 weeks, I don't think you could review all of the material in time.
    What happened with AUD?

I'm planning to write FAR at the end of May. I think with FAR and Becker you do more learning going over the MCQ answers, which takes longer than the actual lectures. Also, it took me more than a week to go over chapter 2. If you are strong in financial accounting, maybe it is doable. If you are not, maybe give yourself some more time.

Thank you both for your input!

Nessie…unfortunately I am on a bit of a deadline and need to pass both exams by beginning of July (gulp). I did not spend enough time on the Sims for AUD and if I am being honest with myself I did not put as much time in as I should have. With that being said, I know I can study for AUD and retake and pass–I am comfortable with over half of the material and just need to spend more time on the sims and a few sections.

Since FAR is such a beast and with the dead month…I wanted to go ahead and try to knock it out since it is more stressful for me than AUD. Not to mention, like you said, the material takes much longer to go through.

I definitely think I can stick to my schedule. Mainly because I am spending all of my free time (besides working out, eating, and sleeping) practicing MC and really understanding what I am struggling with. I may take your advice and see where I am at in 2 weeks before I schedule.

Bzandy, to go off Nessie point sometimes it does seem like few weeks may be more than enough time to knock out the remaining sections. But FAR takes a lot of time for the material to sink in, at least for me. By schedule I should be done with Chapter 7 and onto Chapter 8.. But I am just starting 7 today :/ I took a lot longer than expected on leases and bonds. Good Luck. Take your time. This exam is very expensive, if I were smart I would not schedule all these exams at once (dumb mistake)
