    Hello everyone,

I am currently in the process of studying for FAR using becker. I’ve almost completed all of the lectures and I will have 4 weeks to review before my exam. Can anyone give me advice on how I should structure my review for this portion of the exam?

    A brief background:

I started studying with Becker in the beginning of May and I have been spending anywhere from 20 to 25 hours a week looking over material.

I feel somewhat confident with the material and I have been scoring mostly between 80% to 100% on my homework problems. The major reason for my higher scores is because I am doing my homework immediately after the lecture while the material is still fresh in my head. However, the problem I am running into is that I have forgotten a majority of the prior chapters material and I need something to help it stick for an extended period of time. I recently did a progress test over the chapters and I scored in the 60s, because I didn’t remember the detail to a lot of the topics discussed. Is this common? Is there anyone out there who has experienced a similar situation to me and can lend me advice on how to go about doing my review. The four weeks to review seems like a long time and I would like to have a structured schedule for this period. I obviously plan on going back and rereading the material, but I feel like I will just end up forgetting the material again. Does anyone think cram material would be beneficial to me?

Thanks in advance for all your help and suggestions…

Rewrite the highlighted portions of the chapters. It really helps make it stick.

    REG (2/24/12) - 89
    AUD (4/5/12) - 89
    FAR (5/31/12) - 91
    BEC (7/7/12) - 84

    wickedrentlover,

Thanks for the advice..I am assuming that this method worked for you? Did you concern yourself with the material that was not really covered in the lectures? How do you think you did on FAR?

    Thanks…

I've done it for every section I've taken, and it really helps to tie everything together.

I know I bombed one SIM in FAR, but I feel about the same in all the other parts as I did for REG and AUD. So if that's the only thing I really screwed up hopefully I won't do worse than an 80. Definitely not enough to bring me down below a 75 if that's the only thing I did wrong.

    REG (2/24/12) - 89
    AUD (4/5/12) - 89
    FAR (5/31/12) - 91
    BEC (7/7/12) - 84

I'm basically in the same position as you with the review. Finishing up F8, and taking the exam early July.

Interested what other people have done when they took the portion.

I am a visual learner and spent the last week (after going through the Final Review) rewriting the main points of the chapters. I agree that it really helped to pull it all together and help it stick at the end. I had also written flashcards and tried to review those. Also reviewed all the questions at the end of each chapter in the book and as many MCQs as I could. Lastly I spent two different days taking the 4 hour practice exams that Becker provides and reviewing whatever I was challenged by on those. That is a long review time and it may be a challenge to stick with it that long (and keep all that info in your brain for that long!); yet I had 2 weeks and remember wishing I could have had a little more. Would have done more progress tests and questions on cpareviewforfree.com. Also, I had purchased the Ninja Notes but didn't have much time to go through them as I bought them only about a week before my test. Good luck!

That's very common to forget “older” chapters. You have plenty time of review, so don't worry too much. For me, it helps to go back and read the chapter again and do all the MCQs/SIMs again. It makes much more sense 2nd time around. I usually score low 50-60% first time around, but during the 2nd time around, it goes up to 85%+.

Just keep at it and you'll be fine on the exam day!

    Good Luck.

I now have a little over three weeks until I sit for FAR and I honestly feel like my study plan hasn’t been that effective. I basically have had 9 weeks to prepare for this exam. I spent the first 5 weeks going through all the lectures in Becker and doing the homework. I am somewhat upset because I rushed through the lectures/chapters without really reading the text since I didn't want to get behind. Even with that I felt comfortable with the main overview of all the chapters and I was scoring decent on the homework. I also didn’t spend anytime reviewing the prior chapters while going through the lectures. I left myself with 4 weeks to review and I have been going back and reading all the chapters as well as taking notes on the highlighted material. By the time I finish rereading I will only have about a week to do multiple choice questions and take the 2 practice exams. Rereading the text has been good to refresh my memory as well as bringing the material together, but it seems like the general consensus on this forum has been that doing multiple choice questions is the key to success. So my question is should I be speeding up my review by focusing only on the main topics to allow me more time to work multiple choice questions? I really would hate to be spending unnecessary time on a topic that I may only see one question on.

Also, what is a good way to approach redoing multiple choice questions in Becker? I really dislike the format of the passmaster homework questions in Becker. I become frustrated with doing 50+ multiple choice homework questions on the same topic and I find myself losing interest after a while, which is why I find myself liking the progress exams more. My only issue with the progress exams is that I feel like the easier questions are being given in these exams. Does anyone else feel this way?

Thanks for any feedback. With this being my first exam I am basically doing trial and error with my whole study process.
