so im gearing towards my FAR retake at the end of feb. i had scored a 72 back at the end of nov. and so far i have rewrote all my ninja notes, purchased the wiley test bank and done lots of mcq’s and im also going back to cpaexcel to review the topics i had trouble with. on my score report, i scored weaker on sims however i only practiced a couple sims on the wiley test bank and felt they were way easier than the actual sims i encountered on the exam

any advice from someone who successfully retook FAR about what other strategies i should use?

    Thanks

I didn't pass FAR yet.. and will be retaking mid February..

One thing I do find helpful is.. Planning. I made an excel spreadsheet, and pretty much just budgeted the amount of hours I should spend on each section/topic.. It's helpful because you have something to self discipline yourself on.

Like tell yourself.. u MUST put X amount of hours on X day, and X topic.

    BEC: 69, 57, 72, 73, (anticipated for 4/4/2015)
    AUD: 65, 63, 74, 84!!! (expires 7/31/2015)
    FAR: 63, 57, (scheduled for 4/1/2015)
REG: ... 42, (Anticipated to be around 5/20~)

I'm working on getting for my retake as well. I'm not good at mulitiple choice questions. Because of busy season I'm not really able to schedule anything yet, so I'm just working on questions slowly. Because I mcq's is something I struggle with I'm trying to come up with a personal framework to dissect the questions, eventually getting faster, so that I can tackle the questions and answer them correctly. I know a lot of the information for the topics, but I get distracted trying to answer the question or with parts/information that I think are necessary, but seemingly are not, missing.

Eff'ed around for a while, doing this for real now

I am also planning to retake FAR in February and I agree with a previous comment that planning in advance is a great way to go. The NINJA package has a study planner that I use that outlines the step by step process of watching videos, take nots, MCQs and simulations, etc. as a way to stay organize and maximize your learning in key areas of weakness during your second attempt.

An additional thing I do is when I am at work each day I play, sometimes twice in a day, the NINJA Audio to continuously here the material when I am busy at work. I wish you all the best in your studying retake, we will all obtain our dreams as CPAs very soon.
