FAR retake – only 3 weeks left

I prepared FAR for one month (5-6 hours per day ), and got 65 in Q1. Because I didn’t have enough time, I only reviewed 7 or 8 chapters – didn’t touch ch3 and ch10, and spent two days doing some simulations.

I’ll retake it in 4/20 to get the score in early May, and will begin studying from today. Right now, I only have three weeks left. Is it possible to pass? How to prepare for the simulations and research problems?

Have you thought about pushing your retake back to later in April or May? The reason I ask is I've heard that you should prepare for a retake like you are starting from scratch. Had you started earlier in March, you would have at least given yourself more time. Being as it is, it's possible to pass but you are going to have to not only put the time in, but prioritize it extremely well. I was able to pass FAR in 21 days – began studying 2/7/16 and took exam on 2/29/16. I don't know how much my advice will help, but I got through the material in 17 days and spent 4 days to review. I estimate I spent about 80-90 hours. My goal was to knock out 2-3 chapters a day, after which I'd do a 30 MCQ set to judge how well I was understanding the material. My pace varied – I took entire days to go over bonds, government and non profit because I was so lost. I didn't start reviewing SIMS until my review period. One thing that really helped me was being very familiar with the AL. You can literally find word for word answers to SIMS if you know where to look. My minimum goal was to get myself familiar with any topic to the point where I could pick the 2 best answers in any MCQ. My biggest challenge was balancing keeping an aggressive pace with trying to understand what I was learning. You cannot just blitz through thousands of MCQ's and expect to pass – you have to look at the explanations and understand why an answer is right or wrong. Good luck – I'd still say you should push your test back if you can, but get started today regardless.

@jdn9201 It was amazing that you only spent 21 days on FAR!

Because I plan to take AUD in late May, so I prefer to take FAR before late April. I got “comparable” for each MCQ part except CH3, which I didn't study. That's the reason I'd like to give it a try to retake it in three weeks. I may reschedule if I find it's an impossible task.
