Hey, I’m new here and retaking FAR this Friday.

I was really disappointed with the exam last time I took it in Jan. I scored stronger on all topics but somehow ended up with a 70. My guess is the SIMS – I left 4 blank and just picked random answers. Thinking back, I actually don’t know what I was doing all that time. Ha. Maybe i can attribute it to the fact that i rechecked every MC testlet and ended up spending 30-45 mins extra on that. By the time I got to the SIMS I felt like a train wreck was coming my way and I did not recognize anything.

I was using Becker but i feel their sims are nowhere close to the final. I got roger CPA FAR cram this time and there are some sims that were almost identical to what i had seen on my exam, just different numbers and formats.

I picked up right after busy season and have been hitting the books every single day. I feel more confident in my knowledge and the sims this time. Fingers crossed.

The second time I took FAR I spent too much time on MCQs and only completed 2 Sims. I was stronger on all topics but weaker on Sims. My third and final time I left 2 hours for Sims and completed all the Sims. Going into Sims this time, I was more calm, relaxed and felt that I could do it. If you feel that you need to rush, it messes with your mind and confidence and it will be reflected in your answers. Do not forget that you can use the research tab if you are stuck on an answer or want to check your answer.

Good luck. BTW, May 23rd is a lucky day since it is my father's birthday.

SIMS are easy money. Better to use your instincts on MCQs and not dwell on each question, and save time for SIMS. I gained confidence on the SIMS during REG and the SIMS saved me for AUD. Use the Authoritative Literature and how to search. With proper study techniques, you should be able to only have to pray on 1 or 2 SIMS. Leaving enough time let me double check each SIM and it saved me on AUD.

Compared to the CMA exam, I feel like I have so much extra time on the CPA exams. But of course the CPA questions are harder and there is so much more material to cover while studying.
