Need some advice on far retake. Just failed far for the second time.

73 the first time: had to have surgery in the middle of studying and barely felt comfortable with most of the material

71 for the second time: went in feeling so prepared, felt great about MC, got to the sims and I knew there was no hope. 2 research and the rest on topics not even covered in becker.

I used just becker for the 73. Added ninja notes and becker final review for the 71. I really think the sims are what got me for the 71 because I really thought I had a pass coming throughout the MC. Need advice on what to add, if anything? Ninja MC? Audio? Don’t want to get too cocky thinking it was just the sims that got me and have this happen again.

Planning to retake end of jan, is this enough? Working full time. DO NOT want to take the new exam.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Hey @futurecpa. The worst. Passing FAR on my 3rd attempt felt like being done with all of the exams haha. But here I am on REG attempt 4. Anyways, it can be done. I did Becker only on my first FAR attempt, added NINJA MCQ and notes the 2nd attempt, but still needed the 3rd with NINJA to get over the hump. I wrote out the NINJA notes 1x, but focused on NINJA MCQ and also made my own flash cards. NINJA MCQ made the difference, I think, because you are so used to the Becker stuff. The NINJA questions are just a different format and it sorta puts your brain through a different obstacle course of FAR. I know people have had success with Becker final review (I have not tried it personally, maybe I should for REG gosh), but for the price, I think NINJA MCQ is worth your time.

From my experience, the exam questions were pretty straight-forward and not too complicated.
I think if you build a strong foundation and you study the most important topics, you will do better the next time around.
Just don't spend like 6 hours trying to study retail method inventory or something really random because the cost-benefit is not worth it.
I think if you focus your energy into the areas you know are commonly tested and you are weak in, you will do great next time.

    Thank you both!

@CPA788 I actually really liked/recommend the final review. It's expensive, but I found that it really helped me make sure I had the major tested topics down. Also on a retake I've found that I'd rather do MC than watch beckers super long lectures in the main software. I failed reg the first time with a 73, passed the second time by adding ninja notes and doing all the sims in becker once and all the MC twice. I wrote down extensive notes and any problem I missed or guessed on I wrote down. It helped me! Best of luck!

I definitely ditch the videos after the first go. I need to step up my note taking I think. I've always been great with SIMS until REG so I'll work on those more too. Thanks for the tips!

Also, that puppy in your pic, don't know if it's yours but it's really friggin cute.
