This time MCQ section was stronger and Simulations were weaker and still got 71. I couldn’t understand this. Please help me understand,it’s frustrating.

    How are you studying? No one can answer that but yourself. Please don't think I'm discrediting your efforts, 71 is still respectable. I took FAR twice too. The second time I took it, I genuinely took a HARD look at how I was studying and how well I was grasping the material.

    First time, I didn't finish all the MCQs or SIMs given and I got 72. When I was studying, I KNEW in my heart that I glossed over certain areas I didn't like.

    Second time. I made sure to go through every single of FAR to the point that I would not LEAVE any topic until I understood it.

    SIMs are an area where it really reinforces your understanding of the material. What I found easier the second time around was when I made journal entries for ALL my problems. While studying, I always thought of the journal entries this topic requires. Both of your exams show that you should practice SIMs more. A lot of people don't really recommend spending an excessive time on SIMs, but I feel like that you should do a SIM for every topic, to see how it COULD be asked on the exam. (I even got the SAME exact SIM on the exam that I had answered) I'm telling you right now, if you can pass REG, you can pass FAR.

    Studying for REG is so hard… Good luck!

    @Hasy,

    Sorry to learn you're having trouble with REG. Try this site: https://tax.cchgroup.com/downloads/files/contemporary-tax-practice/Module4/Topic3/B-Corporate-Alternative-Minimum-Tax-Computations.asp

    Some of the information may be out of date. BUT, if you go through all of their modules you should be able to catch up A LOT. Do the quiz at the end of each module (yes, it is a lot). The only downside is that the solutions format kind of weird.

    This website worked for me because I didn't take a Corporate Tax class; long story short, I have a BA already (not in accounting) and I just need ONE tax class to sit for the CPA exams.

    When i took FAR for the first time i only got 57 and report said i was weaker in both Sims and MCQs. After that, as suggested above by somebody else, i strongly analysis my way of studying. Rather than rushing through the topics or trying to do as more as MCqs, i focus on understanding the overall concepts of the topic. Additionally, i also practice lots of sims as it was the best way of testing your knowledge than going over same MCQs. I also tried to study for the second time as it was my first time looking at the material. That helped me a lot. Hope that helps and happy thanks giving.

    Maybe you did poorly on the simulations the 1st time but even worse the 2nd time.

    My best advice is to ignore that information they provide. It's such a small sample size to base any further studying off that information is not a smart move.

    BEC: 85
    REG: 74, 78
    AUD: 86
    FAR: October?
