Hey all..

Testing for FAR in 2 days.. totally pissing in my pants.. so so nervous..

Question for the sims – Was practising one Research question from WTB, here it is: Where in the authoritative literature is there guidance related to fair value disclosures?

When I looked it up, I found the related topic in 820.. however, when I clicked on it, no paragraphs, etc appeared.. I got to 820: Fair Value Disclosures, but it was a blank page, under “Broad Transactions” I suppose, in the Authoritative Literature..

The correct answer is 820 – 10 – 50 – 1

I couldn’t find this in the Authoritative Literature.. can someone help me understand this? I haven’t seen this for any of the other sections that I tested for – is FAR Auth Lit. different in this respect? If yes, how do I tackle it??

Don't freak out an individual practice question. In fact you should look forward to the research question since that's by far the easiest question(s) on the exam.

Also if you want to practice with the full codification then go onto the FASB website and use the real one. It's what you'll see on the exam as opposed to the trimmed down version in the review material.

Thanks.. so you're saying the codification we practice with, is different from the one in the exam?

The one you see in the exam – does that have any such blank sheets, such as “broad transactions” etc?!

Needhelpfar-There are no blank pages in the actual exam. I have experienced that too with WTB sometimes it doesn't load at all, try to refresh it by clicking the other codification code and go back to the right one you wanted. The difference with WTB is that you can't do a search nor enter a keyword. Good luck.

It's not only with WTB, it's with Becker Sims also – I'm worried that such a thing might happen in the exam, that i won't be able to find the paragraph or so.. Thanks anyways guys.

What you get in review packages is a largely truncated version of the codification. The one you see in the exam is much larger.

You can get a free 6-month access to it, thankfully. I forget the process, but you just fill in a form online with your personal information and section ID number, and then the AICPA says, “Hey, you're actually taking the exam!” and gives you access.

Don't stress out about things that don't function well in the practice tests and if that glitch might happen in the real test– the real thing seems much better designed and tested so that it will function correctly.

I saw this with a research question in the Becker simulations as well. The particular topic sounds vaguely familiar, so it might be a glitch with the test software in general. I've never had that problem on the exams, and if you got that close you're going to do great on test day!
