So I am new to the CPA exam and am waiting for my REg score (10/01), and I take FAR 1/02 (rough date i know, but i start my job Jan 4th)… does anyone have any helpful hints to help me pass FAR the first time.. this will be my hardest test, so I am really nervous and not sure what to expect…

Good luck on REG! I took FAR on Nov 13, the exam was super hard, I was very prepared, but I don't think I passed?

Take good short notes and you MUST do all your practice MCQs at least 2 times, better 3 times and you should be ready with what you know…….Also, FAR is a beast, you're going to need alot of time to study and you should cancel all of your holiday events and consider yourself under “house arrest”….starting this weekend….lol

do the MCQ as many times as possible. Can't do much to prep for simulations, on mine I had to guess on half of it.

Don't worry TampaAccountant, I thought I was either going to get a 76 or a 74 when I walked out, so stay positive.

I agree with TampaAccountant the test is the hardest one I failed for 5 points in this window so I will be like you study on Christmas at least I have two weeks vacations I'm planning to study the whole day and party a little I guess LOL!!

When people talk to me during Christmas, I'll be saying “ba-humbug”……..maybe I'll get visited by 3 spirits that will help me pass FAR, REG and AUD…..!

haha. I have regulation score to wait on then taking AUD on monday…If i pass those both and know about it before xmas, i'm going to get super drunk and put on a santa costume and walk through the mall and just get kicked out of stores and watch parents try to explain to their kids why santa is a stupid drunk… or I'll just sit at a bar… one of the two

The holidays are going to royally suck as I too have planned an early January FAR exam. Our busy season at work cranks up right about then, so I need to get it over with. I am actually looking forward to tax season so I don't have to study FAR… now THAT is sad.

Just keep working the problems until you can't stand it anymore. It's torture and I have to force myself to open my laptop everyday and plow on. I made 14% on my homework today, but it will not keep me down!!! May Santa bring us all some extra energy and determination to succeed!

I just took FAR…Talk about brutal exam…I am crossing my fingers for a 75…I studied so much and the simulations were awful…

hey thanks everyone for the advice. TampaAccountant, your post gave me inspiration to start studying full-time, so i got up at 7am today!

I do have one more question, is it a bad sign i have not received my REG score when I took it Oct 1st?

You might be in Wave 2. It's not a bad sign, just agonizing to wait. You may have had a new simulation or something. Jeff predicts those score should be up by December 17.
