FAR – Positives?

FAR – The section I foolishly left to do last. I will have 4 shots at it (if I need) before BEC expires. That doesn’t comfort me at all. I’m at tax guy and gaap accounting has never interested me much, so all I’ve gotten so far in my studies is resistance from my brain. I’m scheduled to take it 2/28/14. When I try and read about FAR and get some motivation, I only seem to find negative things being said about it. Obviously, it’s the CPA exam, so I’m not saying the other parts were a picnic compared to FAR. I just feel like there’s much more optimism surrounding the other parts of the exam. With that being said, are there any positive aspects of this section at all that I can try and focus on to pull myself through this test and to the end of my battle with the CPA exam? Just looking for some good vibes from those who have had experience with the section.

What I liked about studying for FAR was there was a lot of variety to what you are studying. So if I got bored studying a certain subject I could take a break by looking at another topic. Studying audit is much more difficult to me because everything seems very similar so there is a lot more boredom to overcome.

I spoke to an ancient wise man who sent me on a mushroom induced journey through an ancient forest to find the key to passing the CPA exam. A talking spider monkey told me to throw the last of my drinking water in the dirt to find what I was looking for. So I followed his instructions and the following message appeared in the soil:

"Do 5000 multiple choice questions for each section"

I agree with studymonk. I've been studying FAR for several weeks and am scheduled to take it on the 26th. I have jumped around in my studying to keep from repeating the boredom of AUD. It has worked out well for me. It also helps increase your confidence to know you can go to a smaller section and get it quickly and then tackle a harder section. If the harder section gives you a lot of problems, jump to another small section to boost your confience some more and then go back to the harder section.
